*** Official Kodi (née XBMC) Thread ***

Im choosing to stick with Fusion 3.0.0 as its the only release that seems to be stable for me.

However, I am also experiencing the issue when you wake from sleep, XBMC cannot find my NFS share, which a restart does cure. However it is not wife friendly.

Ive read various threads on how a script can auto restart XBMC when waking. Problem is Im a layman with SSH, which keeps being mentioned.

Would someone be kind enough to give me a step by step in layman terms on how to have XBMC restart when waking?

I got as far as installing Putty and logging in. I was rather hoping it would just be an explorer style interface but it seems its all command line driven.

This is the script I need apparently: redlegoman.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/how-to...en-it-wakes.html?m=1

Did you try assigning your HTPC a static IP address, preferably in your routers settings?

Has anyone managed to get the Rom Collection Browser addon working with mame

Its scans my Mame directory on the server but nothing appears its driving me nuts :(

This 'anyone?'....

Having got chrome working beautifully via advanced launcher I'm looking at getting the games working. For browser control I use droidmote(which also has a games pad), upon closing I'm returned to XBMC and use the converntional IR remote.

The thing is that my media/xbmc server is Ubuntu LTS and I'm not running a windows manager to keep things light (probably the same as being on XBMCbuntu). This is why I couldn't get the browser to work correctly but hacking a script around the launcher to wrap a windows manager worked.

I think I'm going to have to do the same for MAME .... surprisingly the SNES games load and work but there's no sound I'm sure wrapping it around a windows manager will fix the sound

root@media:~/bin# cat xbmc-chrome-launcher
#!/bin/bash
# src http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=139269
#/usr/bin/fluxbox &
/usr/bin/openbox &
pid=$!
/usr/bin/chromium-browser --start-maximized http://c8:8888/
killall -9 $pid

Does anyone have a noob guide on how to launch Steam (in Big Picture mode) from within xbmc? Or even how to launch directly into a Steam game?

I just installed this today on my Asustor 302T NAS (it has HDMI out directly to the TV). I was playing with it using the Yatse Android remote and I pressed the little power off button on the remote to shutdown XBMC but now I can't get it to start again.

How is XBMC supposed to work, should I just leave it on all the time? I thought I could switch it on and off with the android remote. The NAS is always on, so I don't know how the WOL stuff is supposed to work with XBMC. I emailed Asustor as well to ask how to restart XBMC without restarting the NAS, but I thought I would check here in case it's a common problem.

Edit: In case anyone else runs into this, someone from Asustor got back to me and told me you just have to stop and restart the XBMC app in the App Central section of the Asustor ADM. Works fine now.

Really not having much luck with XBMC's own scrapers. I have tried 3 different ones and none of them show any posters of fan art. Just had a go at the default one again and it showed some poorly cropped image from the film when go you select it (before playing it). Any ideas? Although Media Companion is fiddly and a pain, it did a very good job at getting HQ art.

I'm having problems with artwork tonight.

-I use a pretty vanilla install, just with Aeon Nox, that's my only extra add-on

Reinstalled XBMC tonight as I'd cleaned up my library. Failing to get any artwork...

I think I must be using a scrapper pluggin .... The movies and TV shows work fine ignore the music lib

root@media:~/.xbmc/userdata# more guisettings.xml

<scrapers>
<moviesdefault>metadata.themoviedb.org</moviesdefault>
<musicvideosdefault>metadata.yahoomusic.com</musicvideosdefault>
<tvshowsdefault>metadata.tvdb.com</tvshowsdefault>
</scrapers>

root@media:~/.xbmc/userdata# grep -i scrap guisettings.xml
<albumsscraper>metadata.album.universal</albumsscraper>
<artistsscraper>metadata.artists.universal</artistsscraper>
<scrapers>
</scrapers>

Now Media Companion is causing problems. The program has scrapped the movies fine apart from around 50 which all had North by Northwest posters. XBMC picked this up so I manually changed the affected films. However when I import them XBMC randomly assigns films with the North by Northwest film poster.

Reinstalled xbmc myself tonight. Just stuck aeon nox on and having same issues. Some films missing art. I refresh and scan them but no posters are downloaded. Very strange.

TV shows working fine.

Deffo having problems with Movies, on 3 different machines (one running latest alpha).

I guess they'll fix it tomorrow :)

Is there an easy way to delete all the meta data created by Media Companion? Spent hours doing it yesterday. Not at home now; could I search for .nfo file types in my Films folder and delete all at once and then do the same with the other files/folders?

When TheMovieDB fixes itself, does it do a thorough job scrapping? As MC gets a lot of information (posters, fan art, actors etc.).

It'll depends on where your dish is pointing. No point in asking it to scan a sat at 19.2E if your dish is pointing at 28.2E (which is what's used for FreeSat)

If your dish is pointing elsewhere, then you'll need to select the setting that relates to your dish orientation.

Well it's my old Sky dish, so I assume it'll be there or thereabouts for freesat? :o

Do I just need to scan 28.2E for the astra2 sat, or are there others I can use?

Update: Seem to be all setup on 28.2E now, everything seems to be working save for a little fiddling.
