***Official Left 4 Dead 2 Thread***

Server is back up again, as FT says the physical server went down and I am told that the motherboard failed. It is back up again now and OcUK 1,2 + 5 are all running as well as the CSS server. Will look into getting it sorted out properly though. We may have to wipe the server and start again. Currently backing up the server config files. :)

Yeah, that's right Link. Once I know you've got a backup of the config files I'll get working on it.

Hopefully this will resolve some of those weird issues about 8v8 too.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR - CONNECTION LOST

Guys can anyone help most of the time i get 10 - 20 seconds into a game and then get connection lost, and it spends 25 seconds trying to reconnect me before kicking me.

i have called O2 and BT and line and connection seem fine, O2 turned my noise level up or down which makes a slower but more stable connection, but still no luck, have tried firewalls off and av off, other times it works fine and i have low pings. been suffering now for a month or so

Are you using the speedtouch? If so, it's likely a known problem with the router. There are fixes posted on the Be forums - have a look in the gaming section.

Ah..you're on o2. Could well be a similar issue. I'd personally change router but if not, the same fix for Be can be applied to that router iirc.

Yeah i had same problems using o2 router. Im now using a netgear dg834gt and it works fine :)

I was having problems with the netgear where i would be playing games on steam and when I exited steam websites would not work, but net was still connected as I could still be playing online. Only rebooting the router would fix it which was very annoying. Seemed to be a common problem. I was using the router for about 6 months or so before this starting happening.

Anyway for the last 2 weeks or so now I havent been getting the issue :)

Indeed. Very good router for the price.

Buy a sky-branded one from a 'well known auction site' and then flash it with the dgteam firmware. Not much over £10 for a very decent router.

Lucky for some, my Netgear DG834GT is on the blink. Every so often it'll disconnect and i won't be able to connect to the router without restarting it. And others (like this morning) it turned on and refused to recognise my pc without restarting the pc and router.

mine does that, but strangely only over wired. wireless connections still connect perfectly fine, but need a reboot to be able to connect with a wire. Every router I've ever had has been dodgy, but this one has the weirdest problems. Mine doesn't even pass DNS servers properly so I need to set them manually on every machine

I'm going off Netgear kit anyway - I've bought my last piece. The router has been ok most of the time, but it's got a distinct lack of features and the speeds aren't as good as I might hope. As for the wireless network dongles, they've been a nightmare from day one - in XP and Vista - never had one work as it should, straight out the box!

That said, I play with a wireless keyboard (I sometimes run off to the side uncontrollably or stop moving altogether :D), wireless mouse (which just stops working now and then - requires a shake to fix) and I spend half my game-time browsing the internet and talking on the phone - so the occasional lag spike doesn't really bother me :D

mine is on a custom firmware (no clue why I flashed it, had it for ages) and is probably out of warranty by now

You can flash it back easily enough. I run DGTeam and before that the other famous one...that I've forgotten the name of.

I'm reasonably sure that they have 'lifetime' warranties. I certainly got mine replaced years after purchasing it (I've owned various GTs on and off for about 5 years).

might have to do that then.... as long as I don't need proof of purchase :D or any of the accessories... no clue where the box is

Well that explains quite a lot :p
