***Official Left 4 Dead 2 Thread***

and the new infected seem to be very effective against groups camping in closets... well that's when the charger decides to have any kind of path finding code run, instead of trying to charge you from ground when you're still on the roof; or the spitter doesn't trying and spit through a tree. at least the old SI still have to awesome warping cheats so they don't miss as much (tank rock throw is most noticeable) ;)

Yep, there's been a few times in Expert games when the AI has done a nice attack that I would say was very good, but often as you say it's easy enough to kill them when they do stupid things.

To be honest the AI in both games are pretty bad though, I think they just used the AI from L4D1 and made some modifications rather than recoding anything in. But the general zombie swarms provide enough challenge to keep Expert interesting

I think the tank has become more skilled at rock throwing, he seems to have some form of sniper attachment to his eye now which lets him fire rocks with pin point accuracy.

just change direction before he throws the rock and he misses by a mile.

He just has some code that throws the rock along the line you are currently running and assumes you will not stop/change direction.

Exactly, both in L4D and L4D2, once he's thrown it, just change direction, or hide behind any major or minor obstacle.

It's never quite that simple though. I've been hit by the tank when I'm behind a wall, behind a truck and even tried dodging, but someimes he is gonna get you and there's **** all you can do about it :D and, of course, if he's close enough, no amount of "simply changing direction" is gonna save you from a rock enema :D

Indeed sometimes you can be hiding behind a wall and crouching, yet his laser guided hax physics rocks still manage to get you

Expert on L4D2 is definitely harder than L4D1 - however this is mostly down to some of the more difficult levels you run across. Hard Rain is all easy enough except for the second map, and i'm sure that is easy if you have the right tactics down to complete it. I consider the finale on Hard Rain the easiest of the lot to be honest.

But in total I do think it's more difficult than the first one, the events require you to move and this leaves your more vulnerable than camping a closet in L4D1.

yeah your probably right but hard rain i think is so easy it makes l4d1 seem so hard butyeah the other campaigns on l4d2 are probably harder than l4d1...dead center..the mall was a nightmare...quite tough:)

I think im gonna do what you did disjunto and go for realism on hard rain.

Quick question, I've just picked up L4D2 (steam name: Andelusion, feel free to add me), and have tried adding the various OcUK servers into my favourites in steam, but non of them show up, why?

I think if you join the OcUK steam group they show up in-game. Have a look in the first post for the link. Also, there's a names list which you can get to by clicking the steam button in my sig :D

The finale is the easiest, but keep all 4 players alive when the Tank turns up while you wait on the boat it can be pretty hard if you didn't try and spawn block.

Charger AI is getting worse and worse. I've been in the street looking at the Charger to have him charge almost directly SIDEWAYS into the nearest wall. Seriously he just charges nowhere near in your direction into some random object most of the time. Its pretty funny to watch.

Yet before ive had him run me straight into the water at the end of hard rain :(

He seems to go from the sublime to the ridiculous

Wthout a doubt. Perhaps the AI is lulling you into a false sense of security... he'll spend half the level failing epically, running into walls and objects left right and never centre, then pul off some awesome Super-Charge and kill half your team :p

Yep you're right it works now :)

Just have some intense games with a few people, mings edwardhimhim, um don't remember the other 1, I'm not sure if they're from OcUK or not but if you are then hi :D

just had a really fun close game, up until second half of 3rd map on dead centre, when the common stopped spawning (apart from strays) went on to finale and it didn't fix itself. was no fun like that so I left, sure I'm gonna get moaned at for raging though

Left 4 Dead 2 Game Add-on #1 Announced

"The Passing" Brings L4D1 Survivors Down South"

December 14, 2009 - Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress, and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced the first game add-on for its co-operative zombie thriller, Left 4 Dead 2 (L4D2), is in development and targeted for release in early 2010.

Dubbed "The Passing," the first game add-on for L4D2 brings the original Left 4 Dead (L4D1) Survivors down south for a meeting with the L4D2 cast, while delivering new single-player, multiplayer and co-operative gameplay for the PC and Xbox 360.

Targeted for release in early spring, "The Passing" takes place just after the Dead Center campaign of L4D2. Set in a small town in rural Georgia, players assume the role of the L4D2 Survivors as they meet with the L4D1 characters.

In addition to the new co-operative campaign and associated narrative, "The Passing" will include new arenas for Survival, Versus and Scavenge mode and introduce a new co-operative challenge mode of play. The Passing will also include a new "uncommon common" zombie class, melee weapon, and firearm.

"The Passing will become the most important campaign in the Left 4 Dead story, as all the Survivors are being called together in one campaign," said Doug Lombardi, VP of marketing at Valve. "It will also be a huge offering of new gameplay content, with something new for every game mode plus a new uncommon common and weaponry."

Exclusively available for the Xbox 360 and PC, L4D2 sets a new benchmark for co-operative action games. The title adds melee combat to enable deeper co-operative gameplay, with items such as a chainsaws, frying pans, axes, baseball bats, and more.

With the AI Director 2.0, L4D's dynamic gameplay is taken to the next level by giving the Director the ability to procedurally change weather effects, world objects, and pathways in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match the players' performance. The result is a unique game session custom fitted to provide a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience each time the game is played.

Finally, with new Survivors, boss zombies, weapons, and items, Left 4 Dead 2 offers a much larger game than the original, featuring more co-operative campaigns, more Versus campaigns, new Survival maps, and the new competitive game mode, Scavenge.

Left 4 Dead 2: The Passing is targeted for release in early spring for the PC and Xbox 360. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.

Exciting news! I hope "a new co-operative challenge mode of play" means 8 player coop!? :D
no, it's gonna be versus survival.... :)

Sounds like 8 player coop to me, they're going to have to seriously up the horde size/SI spawn amounts to make it challenging thought. but original survivors in l4d2 could be fun (esp' if we can use them on current campaigns)
