Just completed my Ryzen upgrade from Haswell -

Now limited by GPU, but not in red only yellow, which is what I expected - much much smoother panning the camera and solid 30fps+ with the same settings where as before it would dip when panning to as low as 12fps. Still need to do some testing to see if it's still crashing as before (which I suspected was down to the slower DDR3/general game bugs).

Getting twice the CPU score in 3DMark also, so looks like it was well worth doing.

I'm really out of touch with PC gaming :o.. is that a benchmark app? Which one is it? Cheers

Hi guys,

Long time flight and racing simmer here.

Have we got an OCUK flight sim community up and running? Maybe a discord server or something.

I don't have any friends that play flight Sims (I'm on XPlane 11, DCS and FS2020). Thought it might be cool to organise a few fly in events?

Id be well up for a OcUK fly meet

The loading times....jeez. I've got several TB of SSD, 96gb of RAM, 24cores and 48 threads, and it takes a bloody age.

And once again, did a nice flight in the 787, got up cruise, sat there for half an hour. Then tried to open the controls menu to look up the trim controls....CTD.

Going to try installing it on my other PC and see if it's any better because it's just tantalisingly excellent right now, until it crashes and ruins it

The loading times for me is not half as bad as what your saying i run this in a SSD i7 9700k@5Ghz 32GB ram RTX2070S

Iv had 2 not responding app crashes in 50 hours of game time never a CTD tho

I suspect is not your spec but the servers or internet, during alpha I never had loading taking more then 1min on 120 Mbps

Just wanted to do a quick flight from Gatwick to Manchester - just as I got over Heathrow, for some reason the AP turned itself off somehow and I began to stall. When I went back inside the cockpit it wouldn’t let me press anything in there, no matter what I tried

The CTD is in many instances caused by wireless peripherals disconnecting or going into sleep mode. I can actually make the sim crash now by deliberately waking my mouse. It’s a bug and there’s no fix yet for it.

I lost all navigation on 1 of my flights before in the A320 neo...Its buggy at the min but its a big arse game things will get fixed in time

Word of warning if you're planning to do a flight in the Bonanza, it goes about 133kts flat out when it should be more like 170kts I think. Had to cut my flight short lol.

I've taken a closer look tonight and performance and quality. I refuse to go lower than High-End in settings, it just looks miles better than medium.

So at 4K I am GPU bound by my 980TI, I get around 20FPS over San Fran with dips in frame rate. It's playable, but, not great.

Switch to 1080p frame rate is a lot better, but now CPU bound by my 4470K. However, running non native res is not nice on the best of days, on a 32" 4K monitor, it just looks really horrible.

I'm in two minds what to do to improve performance here. I could either buy a second monitor, either 1080p or 1440p and run with that, or stick with 4K and spend a lot on a new build when the time is right for components. Damn this sim and damn 4K for spoiling me, not sure I could go back. But then you look at the highest end GPUs and they are scraping in to the 30FPS @ 4K, add some fancy 3rd party aircraft in to the mix, and we will be back in the 20FPS territory again. Gotta love flight sims.

Enjoying this so far but so many button combinations to remember. Will have to print out a cheat sheet. As a newbie to flight sims, using keyboard only at the moment probably making it more difficult. Done a few of the training sessions, even managed to get off the ground and then crashed.

Glad I kept my TrackIR, im using the reflect kit that comes with it as opposed to the LED clip. Never knew why I didnt use it before! Works just as good as the LED clip.

Absolutely loving this game... finished tutorial 7 and onto tutorial 8.
What can I do next after the tutorials? Is there any resources to teach the ABC of flying and all thats involved?

Been playing the past few nights with a mixture of keboard and xbox 360 windows controller. Tonight I've loaded the game up and the controller works in the menus but when in an aircraft (A320), when I press the buttons it just doesn't trigger any actions. Like pressing Y+B doesn't release the parking break, A or B doesn't increase or decrease throttle. I've tried a restarting the pc and restarting the game etc but nothing seems to resolve the problem. Anyone else having this issue?

YouTube is your friend. Squirrel, Frooglesim, flightdeck2sim to name a few, all of which have done and are going to do tutorials :)
