**** Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Thread ****

Anyone else finding the G1000 avionics to be a bit buggy ? From reading online it sounds as if the package can be a bit quirky in real life, however, I'm finding it frequently fails to pick up the ILS/localiser for approaches. I should add that I'm pressing the CDI button to cycle modes ... but still nothing. I can't figure out if it's me being an idiot ( probably ) or the sim being temperamental.

Only majopr gripe I have right now, and please correct me if I am missing it, is I would like to see the simulation rate somewhere, often I'm not sure if I'm above or below 1X when changing rates.

There are all sorts of issues still with autopilot. I noticed in the GA aircraft if you save a flight with the AP on, when you reload the game it is switched off. BTW you can set up keys for a normal pause but you need to show all commands in the keyboard options to access it, then define a key set for on and off.

Turning autopilot on in the 787 rams the throttle fully open and presumably destroys the aircraft although I haven't let it go long enough after overspeed to find out!

Spam slowing down button and then hit speed up twice so it will go from 1/4 to 1/2 to 1

Completed the first leg of the Yosemite bush trip this morning. Really enjoyable. Great that it saves after each leg so it can be split up. In future it would be cool if there was a bit more narrative around the legs e.g what cargo it is, for what, how heavy etc. Great fun anyway :)

oh and refuelling... After the first leg I had 70% fuel so I wanted a bit more. I parked in a parking spot and pressed shift + F to request a fuel truck. Nothing. But in the control scheme there is an unassigned command called “repair and refuel”. I bound this to the i key as it was unused. This worked. Instantaneous 100% fuel magically appears without need of a fuel truck :D

I had this in the TBM then figured out you need to go in to the menus (touch screen bit) find the Comms bit and set the nav 1 radio to the ILS Freq. Then when you switch the CDI to nav 1 in range it says loc.

Anyone know how to turn down the brightness of the screens on the g1000?

Anyone else getting plenty of CTD still?

I did a fresh install yesterday with Windows 10 2004, and had three this morning.

One seems to be related to SimConnect as I was running OnAir at the same time, the next was due to CoherentGTJS.dll and the one just now, after I'd completed a short flight, was due to ucrtbase.dll. Nothing else running in the background except for Radeon Software, OneDrive and I presume Xbox Gamebar.

No crashes apart from when I try to load a saved flight, and not always so unsure what it could be

Plenty. Trying to avoid anything that might upset it appears to help. Shut down everything you can. Once you launch it, don't alt-tab or switch focus. Don't launch multiple windows. Definitely don't add or remove and audio devices (Bluetooth headphones). Preferably don't use Bluetooth headphones at all, seems to be a major risk factor in my limited analysis.

How apt... :p

Are you all on 2004 or 1909 version of Windows 10?

No crashes for me, been working pretty much perfectly since the install, where I had no issues either.

Bought from the MS store direct.

I'm on 1903, I'm a little afraid to upgrade if there are issues with the updates.

Was just testing the bluetooth/wireless possibility - no dice. Even with the dongle removed using an old USB WMO, still got a crash - this time faulting module just FlightSimulator.exe.

Will now try it with the online data disabled to see if that's an issue.

Another possible source of crashing is the location of the install - do you all have it installed on the same C drive as Windows?

Im doing my biggest stint yet JFK to Heathrow in the 787, Took a bit of getting used to as im so used to the A320..Right now flying over Newfoundland

Hope i dont crash this bird
