**** Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Thread ****

Price does seem high but the scale and detail are worth it, maybe not the top one, one thing to be grateful for is they never went for a subscription :)

Getting seriously pumped for this having just purchased and been extremely disappointed with X Plane 11. Decision now is which version to go for, basic for £60 will probably suffice. May wait and see if they put it on Steam, rather than buying with the MS jacket.

I really fancy flying a 787 into Heathrow so will probably end up bending over for the top Premium Deluxe version, given for how long and how often I'll probably be playing this game.

I'm assuming they'll continue to develop the map / world detail too which would be nice. It seems like it should still look amazing in ten years, since they can keep developing the graphics and geographical data.

What I'll probably do is try the basic one first via game pass. Step one though is ditch the 4690k and 970 for a Ryzen 4000 and RDNA2 / 3070 Super.

It is tempting, but not sure I can persuade the wife as to parting with £103 for a PC game (I need to man up...).

I'll have to do some learning too, the only big jet I know how to fly is the 737-800 which isn't currently listed. Hopefully the 787 Dreamliner isn't too different in its operation!

Going to be giving a good try at this, absolutely love watching vids on xplane etc.

Just wondering what would be the best basic flight stick, which one is recommended?

Thanks

Well that's my birthday present to myself sorted!

I too was surprised at the release date being so soon, especially considering it doesn't go into beta until the end of July. I just hope the MS servers on release day can handle all the purchases/downloads/scenery streaming/etc.

A lot of stuff can be transferred between planes, the principles are the same, just a case of finding all the buttons and getting a flow for the new plane is the challenge :D I went from a 737 to a 747 for the first time a while ago and with some YouTube guidance picked it up pretty quickly.

Pre-ordered the Premium Deluxe. Now pair it will my 48CX OLED and a 3000 series Titan; going to be glorious!

Only recently activated my 3 month game pass trial so very happy this is coming out so soon and I'll get to try it.

I would also like to know this. I've got a very old Saitek joystick so could use that if it still works, or would a controller/mouse/keyboard be ok? Any recommendations welcome
