I was in the Rover, Berger isn't lieing.

The white one at ~2.20 in the video, you know the one in which I was driving and you were in the passenger seat... ;)

Just doesnt sound that fast because I wasnt VTEC'ing it up and didnt want a repeat of MM7 ;)

lol i'm confused, which Rover is MrLOL referring to? We were shifting..

the white one

Were you actually doing 80 beside the car park or did you slow down as you passed us before speeding up again ?

OK, in the video; as the clock turns 3:42 he is about a car-length past the start of the house's wall (also there's a wasted sheep in frame).

As the clock turns 3:46, he's about level with the start of that short wall to the right (also there's an rg-tom in frame).

According to Google, these 2 points are 162m apart.

Before I do the maths, I want to make it very clear that this is not particularly accurate, I don't care what you have to say about the method, it's more accurate than anyone guessing it by eye. But here we go anyway: 90.5mph

i do have to say, 90mph is an average speed....and although it might not seem like much, going side ways etc and braking will have shaved a fair amount off.......

I agree actually, must have been close to 100, no-one can be sure though :/

I would have guessed around 85/90, definitely not over a ton though imo.

Still though, not matter what speed he was doing he's sodding lucky!

Agreed its a very fast road and very easy to push well past 3 figures if your really on it.
That crash looked like car was doing about 85-90ish which is fast and bear in mind a speedo typically over-reads so 100mph indicated could be around 90mph GPS.

That Rover doing 80mph, looks a lot slower, maybe its speedo is a lot out, afterall its a Rover. ;)

Funny, its actually completely accurate according to my tomtom, 75mph is 75mph.

And it was so fast that MrLOL's camera panning couldnt keep up. ;)

Doing the same calculation, I pass the house at 2.35 and appear from behind someones head/the wall where Darryn crashes at 2.40. 5 seconds in total, making it approx 175m in 5 seconds, or 35m/s, 78mph.

Or then I could be lying and I was doing 59.99mph, it doesnt really matter.

I never realised Carol Vorderman posted on these forums!

If your on a hot one you can easily be driving into fourth gear when your passing the house which would put the maths above fairly accurate - minus the lift, brake & sideways bit you get an estimate for the impact speed. Could have been a heck of a lot worse to be fair.

You can be up at well in excess of double the speed limit going past that car park as you can pretty much keep your foot in over the smallish crest which is by the layby further down the hill which means you are on the power for the best part of 15-20s...
