****Official OcUK Fury X Review Thread****

AMD marketing and market research just comes across as half baked when compared to Nvidia in recent years.

Seriously, are they that dumb?? What did they expect from reviews?? They should have dropped the price to £450 RPP with the current set of drivers,so it was not competing directly with the GTX980TI but more with the GTX980. Heck, even only release a limited quantity just for halo reasons if they don't make much money just to strengthen the brand.

Or if there were driver improvements to be had,why launch now?? They should have launched it on the 14th of July FFS.

Plus no voltage unlock on launch day. Seriously,WTF?? The GTX980TI cards are awesome overclockers.

The only way I can see this as a positive is if the actually custom Fury cards are overclocking monsters and make the Fury X look redundant in some way,ie, a bit like the GTX980TI against the Titan X.

Do you have a 4K 60hz TV/Monitor?

No, then it doesn't matter does it.

I do actually, HENCE me mentioning it, and oh boy does it matter!

No excuse not to include it, unless of course you're AMD, a company that totally disregards what the customers want, both hardware and software wise :p

it matters to anyone even thinking of buying a 4k tv....for how ever long you normally keep graphics cards
for boom thats 3months, for other ppl more like 3years?
so yeh kinda does matter lol

I think people are getting hysterical over this, I've scoured the reviews and it beats a Ti enough times to say it trades blows, I don't know where this "struggles to beat a 290X" is coming from. If you see an anomaly like that it's a safe bet to disregard until 2 or so driver releases.

A point I haven't seen raised except once on another forum is the complexity of writing drivers for HBM-equipped cards. I know it's a cop-out to say wait for the drivers but that's the cold harsh reality of our hobby. This is all academic btw, I am not advising anyone to hold off on a Ti or TX, rather just reserving judgement on the Fury.

What also doesn't fill me with confidence is this :-

From Hardocp.

They've been struggling with drivers since last October.

Kind of confirms for me that they are going to be second guessing what the developer was intending to do with the memory - which is going to have hilarious consequences :S

You can't say drivers though, as everyones lost confidence in AMD for about 8 months now, because of their drivers.

Its not good, not good at all :(

You do realise he still owns and is going to continue to own a Titan-X even with the FuryX?. It really just shows your own intentions in your posting rather than you assuming you're exposing his. :o

Regardless of what you think, those benchmarks exist and as I've said many a time, thankfully BoomStick and Kaapstad will expose the truth about these cards. You do also realise there is no over-voltage at the present moment?. That alone might change things as well as driver improvements so I think a few people on this site need to calm down with their snap judgements and let things play out how they are going to. If AMD come short, their pricing will reflect that in time.

I don't protest to know Boomstick at all and I have pretty much been an AMD/ATI man all my many years of being into PC's and only just the last couple of days switched to the 980Ti with that damned fine offer of £500 for the Zotac from here and still have my 290X. It just seems a little silly to keep cherry picking benchmarks and then accuse people of trolling. Heck, it doesn't matter at all and I am sure everyone enjoys what they use regardless of brand loyalty, which seems to be you are either in the green or red camp here and nothing inbetween.

DP to HDMI 2.0 cable on the way, now there is no excuse not to buy the furry.

Why spread rubbish? from the display port site.

" Adapters for HDMI 2.0 will become available in the near future." Sound like AMD "the driver will be here in the near future"

This card should be named The Fluffy X or Diet X :)
