****Official OcUK Fury X Review Thread****

They are hand tuning games so it won't be, apparently.

Taken from HardOCP.

Makes you wonder why they released 8GB 290X, 390 and 390X cards...

Also, if people remember Nvidia were getting slated when they released the 970 and 980 for the lack of performance increase over previous gen and complaints that they'd gone for efficiency instead of performance.
Then AMD do the same thing with the 300 series after 9 months.

Nvidia release the Titan X and 980Ti using old tech and achieve the same performance AMD get nearly a month later with new tech. But all the hype is around AMD, doesn't seem like Nvidia are getting much credit.

Everything now seems to be how AMD have failed rather than how Nvidia actually did a good job with the 900 series that allowed them to produce the 980Ti.

No they wouldn't. They still bought FX GPUs with the 9700 PRO being out!! Bought GTX285 cards when the HD5870 was out and so on!! :p

Haha mam I had 5 AMD cards all 5 died I'm. Justified for my opinion and I'm certainly no fan boy or troll. I have a budget of 500 and looking for.the best card. Happens to be Nvidia for several reasons. This furyx had just pushed pepole over to team green which is ashame because lack of competition sucks.

Hmm, a bit of an anti-climax in the end, a solid card but nothing amazing to really shake up the market.
I'd like to think that there's more to come with unlocked voltage and better drivers but as the owner of a 295x2 and a Freesync screen I've heard that before...

This card is so cpu starved on 1080p, that it even brings a smile on my face when people are talking about process shrinks. DX11 games are still gonna be out for so long, that unless AMD truly makes a low overhead driver, they will always look bad on tests.

Surely 4k gives a hint of fury's true potential, but how many are truly optimist that AMD can fix their drivers? Well quess I am, as I just ordered on today.

Though gotta admit it's funny that AMD keeps marketing 144hz freesync displayes, when their drivers can maybe keep one game out of ten fed for that on lower resolutions :)

I do see good things in fury release aswell. AMD has truly done good job with the cooler. Granted not everyone likes getting liquid in their systems. So quess this is more of personal issue then.

What made you pick.it. over a 980ti

I'll be getting one in 3-4 weeks when the prices stabilize, I can't see where all of this hate is coming from. The Fury X seems to outperform the 980 Ti in a lot use cases at 4k, AMD targeted this card directly at 4K so it makes sense that the initial drivers are optimised for that. I see no reason to think that 1080 and 1440 performance won't get better with driver updates.

Maxwell is a great architecture. They have beaten the FURY X with an air cooled 250w tdp card without hbm. Its impressive.

290x was the same, struggled to keep up with titan.. Now look at it. Outperforms the Titan all the time..

100%sure driver support will help a lot over coming months.

People always going to hate though.
For me furyx is a great success. Upping there game over everything from there last gen.

I do hope voltage control becomes available on afterburner and that though. Not something I do but I can understand why a lot people be mad about that.
But there again am sure afterburner will get it sorted.

Man you are so doing something wrong, five Amd cards and all died. Statistically that's pretty much impossible. Over 20 odd years pc gaming and only one card has ever died on me and it was an Nvidia 5900 something, still got it in its original box, kept it as its the only card that's ever died on me. :D

Alt view: It could still be good for AMD, its not amazing out-of-the-gate, but it has allot of potential. Its a new architecture GPU using completely new HBM tech, and 2 x 8 pin power connectors. It could turn out to be a beast over time.

When its performance is actually competitive at 4k. why is the RAM amount the issue here? Genuine question as it clearly performs in the cases where the RAM should be a problem.

Is it just a case of bigger number? Whats your reasoning on the 2GB loss comment?

I obviously meant the 980ti, oooops.

Anyway why buy a fury x with 4gb of ram when you can buy a 980ti reference for the same money and it's faster and it has 2gb more ram which ALL the hardcore amd users know has been a big issue.

Amd themselves bigged up the more ram issue with thier 7970 and 290 cards, with the up coming dx11 games using more and more vram who would risk it but the the die hards.
