****Official OcUK Fury X Review Thread****

it was a serious question, why did you pick it though ?

I was serious when I answered. I am AMD fanboy. I had decided to get this long a go. Even I predicted it's 1080 performance to be subbar long ago.( one can browse through my message history). Performance is still good enough for my 60hz display. And I will upgrade anyways to next gen cards. I just hope dx12 will start showing it's face then.

Quess one could say I have faith in AMD's DX12 performance , even a bit too much.

I'm still on the fence and waiting for user reviews, particularly Kaap and Boom with their Titan X comparison. Hopefully all this negative stuff will push the price down. From what I have read the reviews are all over the place and therefor cannot be trusted. Will be going Win 10 in July and will wait till then as that's when I'll know for sure. :)

I am looking forward to hear their opinions as well about Fury, theirs and others that get the cards in the following days. Trust actually users opinions more then review sites. :)

Makes you wonder why they released 8GB 290X, 390 and 390X cards...

Also, if people remember Nvidia were getting slated when they released the 970 and 980 for the lack of performance increase over previous gen and complaints that they'd gone for efficiency instead of performance.
Then AMD do the same thing with the 300 series after 9 months.

Nvidia release the Titan X and 980Ti using old tech and achieve the same performance AMD get nearly a month later with new tech. But all the hype is around AMD, doesn't seem like Nvidia are getting much credit.

Everything now seems to be how AMD have failed rather than how Nvidia actually did a good job with the 900 series that allowed them to produce the 980Ti.

Spot on Moogaly
For all amd "progress" and they still failing to beat old Nvidia tech.AMD first here, amd first there - but that not helped amd at all,why should anybody give a crap about that? Im only interested in end of product, simple. No,its not good to us end consumers..But all those problems would have been much smaller if not such hype - Titan X smasher? More like trading blows with non Ti 980
No point to look at Booms cherry picked "benchies" - all biggest sites have more or less same results and all pointing out Fluffy X barely touches 980Ti.Now just need to find all those posts where some saying it will smash TX,would do nice sig of em :D
Oh,and price - only idiots would pay for worse performing vga more, not that they dont exist - bulldozer failure good example of that :D

The gloating by some is amazing. It's as though it's some kind of personal victory.

The card doesn't really look that bad. It's certainly no Bulldozer.

Yeah let's ignore all the benchmarks that show Fury X ahead of both 980 Ti and Titan X and just focus on the ones where it's trading blows or behind.

So cherry picking worse results is ok, but cherry picking winning results to show that it does have wins isn't ok.

Got it.

^^ It's good to know that are also level headed people on here.

Is this review legit and is it better than the rest? http://techreport.com/review/28513/amd-radeon-r9-fury-x-graphics-card-reviewed

It is frame time benching, so it shows the Fury X actually being way behind the 980Ti.

Personally I would like to go with a Fury X, especially with its noise levels and cooling. But the 980Ti performance feels too big of a leap, I don't care about propriety crap such as gameworks, but the performance of the 980Ti is apparent and its beating the Fury X Consistently. Key word here, Consistently.

No - lets keep putting in every page cherry picked results and ONLY those where in some magical way its ahead if 980Ti and TX :D
Im quite sure peeps saw results from all biggest sites, and 9 out of 10 of those sites say same - poor card for such price, which cant be lie im sure.
Also im quite sure (as someone already said in this same thread) it would be much easier to put benchies where Fluffy X not such 980Ti and TX "beater" like you want to show, its just pointless to do it,peeps rather have laugh i guess
NV easily won with old tech, and not even HBM was needed.Im quite affraid what will happen when NV will put all proper new tech in they new card, thats if AMD manages last until then without going boom

When you've had to put up with weeks of hearing how amazing AMD's next card will be, a little bit of "I told you so" from people who pointed out some inconsistencies in what was being said is well to be expected.

Aye and I just read a review using the same method and it showed the Fury X doing very well. User reviews are what I will rely on, nothing else, there is nothing consistent about the tech reviews and in fact I would go as far as to say they are consistently inconsistent. :D

Yeah, roll on the user benchmarks.

How about you post the benches where the ti wins then?

I am sure there are links on 1st page - its just funny how some taking extra mile to try convince themselves that Fluffy X is a good card.
Might be for 360-400,but not for 510
New tech, such hype - should at least convincingly beat its rival - TX (as name suggests) - but barely touches 980Ti.And how old is Maxwell ?

If you were having so much psychological suffering due to it why were you going into said AMD threads??

It's the internet - nobody is forcing you to read them!

:p

People are waiting on user benchmarks now, but I suspect it won't change anything, people will only believe the ones that back up what they want to believe and dismiss the ones they don't.

Oh and be assured if and when Boom, Kaap and any other users show the Fury X to be poor and there are no 'driver' improvements etc then come the end of July I will pass on the Fury X and await next generation cards. ;)

I read what the sites said:

Techpowerup - Highly recommended
Guru 3d - Recommended
Overclockers3D - gold award

Yes it is a bit behind the 980Ti, and most people waited for something stronger, but it still is a good card, hardly laughable...and certainly not competing with the 980.
The launch was bad thats sure, but for me its certain that somethings not right..i think its the drivers not working well with HBM, because the GPU surely has the grunt, but the results are very inconsistent...they are changing by review site/settings/resoluton.....

:p

Where did I say I was suffering?
I was pointing out that the AMD fans were setting themselves up for a comeuppance, and the end result is the hilarity that is ensuing now.

I find the ocuk forums a source of great amusement, never suffering.

Pretty much a nice positive AMD review...though it's sadly compared to being better than the 980 than the 980Ti which every fanboy on here was claiming over the last week.

It got a OC3D gold award...so it does have some merit, but no real competition to the 980Ti.
