****Official OcUK Fury X Review Thread****

Its hard to have a positive opinion of this card, hardocp literally handed it its ass in the review. Its like a proof of concept for hbm, and literally all hbm did was save them some power was diverted to getting a bit more performance out of the core. And even that wasn't enough for it to to be consistently ahead of the 980ti.

Add in the price gouging and the fact that the reviews and the sales listing were conveniently simultaneous and it will probably leave a bitter taste in the mouth of those who bought it for that that stupidly inflated price. But at the same time you're bound to get some of those early adopters trying to put a positive spin on it. :(

Total flop, as expected. I honestly don't understand where people are getting hype from an AMD product. They have produced letdowns after letdowns for the past decade.

All this waiting for nothing. I think it's time for everyone to make jump to Nvidia, they already hold almost 80% of the gaming market, probably around 85-90% when the next gen cards launch. Most games already are being optimised for Nvidia from the ground up now.

AMD are now officially finished IMO.

Not very impressed myself. Late to the party and with water cooling that's the best they have? Lower power draw of HBM vs higher power draw of watercooling. Simple spinney thing vs spinney and pumpy thing (more complex, higher risk of issues). Not so bad if performance worth the risk but I think not and would rather keep to something I know works well - a 980 Ti ot Titanx.......
looks small tho but need somewhere for the rad/fan.

flopper, nVidia 980 ti drivers are also arguably early drivers as only game ready drivers since around mid-march, same for TX. I do think nVidia could do with optimising drivers with older games now. Farcry 4 I have had to lower to Very High settings otherwise it black screens - which might be the game itself but probably a workaround that can be done in drivers too if they cant fix the blimmin' game.

Nvidia should just do a dual chip with a water loop just for sh*s and giggles :)

Then you overclock it. kthnxbye
Which is the point.

980ti over-clocks like a monster, fury X needs to also to complete.

Stock vs stock at the high end is a meaningless comparison anyway, who pays £500+ for a GPU & runs it at stock & doesn't at least over-clock without touching the voltage.

oooh i feel sorry for the early adopters (fury and Titan) the 980Ti was always going to be the one to get this time round.
40% increase in 2 years from AMD seems about right, if the card was priced at £400 (hopefully the Fury will be) it might be worth a look.
For me this gens getting skipped i mean how much POWER do you need to play Hearthstone at 1080P :)

Clearly you're one of the ones oblivious to their existence so I'm sensing a lack of weight in that statement.

Nearly all 980ti are monster clockers and will stomp the fury x into next 3 gens :D

that 500 quid Zotac 980ti AMP was a steal.

Me :p
The gain for me isn't worth it.

Surely it is for say a 980-ti :D

Even my 970 runs at a comfortable 1500 boost on the core without touching the voltage.

It was a rhetorical question, with the implication that buying top end gear without utilising the potential makes no sense to me.

When I buy top end I always look at the max stable over-clocking potential - we are on 'overclockers uk' forum after all, not 'stockclockers uk' :p
