*** Official OcUK Minecraft Server - Discussion and Rules ***

Hey FT. if this test server is a semi perm thing for testing mods
might be an idea to add the details to the OP including the link for inventory stuff.

makes it easer for us to find the details when going between servers :D

At some point I'll be moving the real world server into the directories and getting rid of this. Reason being that I've set up ram disk and scripts for this and it'll be annoying to re-make them all.

Any idea why the map looks so poor? The sections don't seem to join at all

It's just part of the dynamic renderer - it sacrifices quality for speed and low memory footprint.

I don't think it'd replace cartographs but having something that auto updates is kind of cool in between cartos.

Ok since the arena is looking good :D

I had a run around on the server for a nice spot and wow spawn has gotten crowded with builds.

anyway i look and there is 2 places i see that could be used. both are behind the pantheon. one spot right behind it where we had the chunk error a while back. or further out near the water.

what do you think?

the arena itself only need a 30 X30 base from testing
so does not need a huge plot. other wise it will need to be located out side of all the builds near spawn.

the over all space needed i think is about 50 x 50 ish but if we want to make it look nice then a bit bigger. but again will require a better plot for it.

Just a side note as I mentioned on the server - depending on if people want the arena 'visible' it could be made underground in a bedrock cube.

As you don't have to walk to it - /ma join
and /ma leave tp's you back to where you were before you joined.

Bedrock cube = no one cheating making holes and putting food through.

Downside is, no one can see the 'arena' or walk to it.

Login servers are down for me.
This always happens, really frustrating. Mojang need to fix the game before release otherwise there will be a lot of whine when nobody can login.

I didn't mean this drivel to go on so long, just my thoughts on mobarena...

Classes

Tank - Dim armour. Good for setting off creepers and running; causing explosive dmg to other mobs in the process. Iron sword for med-dmg.

Archer - Weak armour and health, terrible sword, stay at the back and use arrows sparingly (only 2 stacks) use them on creepers if the tank isn't able to set them off - SPAM them at SUPER creepers as they are too dangerous for others to get near to. Pigmen are also as they are very fast and hurt your teammates.

Chef - Stick your cakes furthest from the mob spawn point, share out food, stay back and take pot shots at mobs who are fighting at other players with your wooden sword.

Knight - Medium armour, dim sword. General purpose, flank mobs and deal heavy dmg with the sword.

Wolf master - 2 invulnerable wolves, use a lot of hit and run techniques so your wolves do all the work.

Oddjob - God knows! Make a barrier with your netherrack/make a line of it and set it on fire to do DmgOverTime and slow them. Use tnt+flint&steel wisely, long plant+fuse time and can cause dmg to your teammates.
One interesting thing is if you hit a creeper with your fishing rod, it seems to make them explode even if they're a large distance from anyone... Unconfirmed so far..

Mobs

Wolves - If agro'ed go for these first as they are super fast and deal dmg quickly. They also die quickly.

Creepers - Leave them for Tanks to set off or archers to take down. Knights can flank them when they are going for another player (2 hit kill with dim sword).

SuperCreepers - as above. You will lose so much hp if you take these on.

Pigmen - If agro'ed attack quickly. They are super fast and deal a lot of damage. (Impossible to kill without taking dmg yourself?) Archers take aim!

Skels - Not a priority if you move quickly.

Zombies - Leave til last if possible, slow and do no ranged damage.

You forgot slimes and the giant bossess.

mob arena sounding more like a WoW raid every time I read this thread now. Not liking the idea at all! it is MINEcraft after all, if you want stuff like that go play a sodding MMO.

Nothing like that tbh. You are put into the arena groups of mobs spawn constantly until you die. The gold is to get as far as you can before you die or are killed for being to slow to kill the mobs. Also if you dont kills a group of mobs in time the next group spawns.

The rewards tbh are crap but its just mayhem in the arena and that is the fun part and makes it worth it.
