*** Official OcUK Minecraft Server - Discussion and Rules ***

Thanks FT!
I'm getting wet and muddy at the Isle of Wight festival this weekend, but will be back on next week for some deathmatches if anyone else fancies it :).

I have been really busy with work and sorting out my home, so have not been available for a few weeks now.

I would like to get back and actually plan/run some decent matches.

The spawn looks really good, well done to the team that put it together! The only very minor critisism I have is that the spawn housing plots are a bit further away from the /spawn point, but as I didn't win one I don't really mind! :p

As for things that could be added, a few things spring to mind.
  • Some automation in the farms
  • Examples of the features the mods introduce
  • A hot air balloon / jetpack landing pad
  • The obligatory rail station on the ground

A small tree farm at spawn would be nice, it would be an easy source for rubber for new players until they can start their own tree farm.

We sure can add in a landing pad - not a problem :)

We (us admins) thought it would be good if the players built the tree farm. We ofc will help with mats, but the ground under the plot-forms is/was/could be the industrial area of spawn - so if you want to build an automated tree farm or have a quarry etc etc, you can...under the plot-forms :)

The only thing we would ask is that if you are planning to build anything that could cause lag, you speak to an admin first - if there is no admin online then post on here or on LinkTart and we will let you know if your design or idea is okay for all to still enjoy the server :)

So if the new launcher says an update is available, and you say yes, do you have to redownloaded the extra mods.zip and overwrite the files again? Is that extramods.zip kept up to date as well?

If you update the chances are that you'll need to do the extra_mods.zip again.

Whereabouts will you advertise when it does need to be updated, I would say a specific page on Linktart would be best, like a mods status/update page purely to list current mods needed, and update this whenever a launcher update is released so people know how to react. If this page doesn't already exist that is.

We have a page with instructions on how to join (and hence the mods required) here: http://linktart.co.uk/how-to-join/

When there is an update we will update the info on that page, post a news post on LinkTart, post on here and send an email alert to all our players :)

I've responded to your whitelist request on LinkTart :)

Sphax is probably the most used texture back as it works really well at HD resolutions. Nuttyprot from OCUK has made his own texture pack too which is really nice.

Head over to the official Minecraft forums where you will be spoilt for choice:

Check out all the stuff provided by Technic. You can even set it up to be the same as our server, which could put you in a better position should you ever decide to join us in multiplayer :)

However, if you're just starting out I'd recommend playing without any major mods immediately.
