DAAAWWWW!!! KITTY!!!! :D

Pah, my cat looks way different to that and my girlfriend is *at least* twice as tall :p

edit: the 90GBs of server files are taking a AGE to transfer :/

At least setup of the new OS shouldn't be as long-winded as this.

I hope.

Those new computercraft block types are awesome :)

Backup upload has finally finished. I'm just making one last super paranoid backup of the map and then I'll be wiping the entire server...

Latest info on 1.3:

The game now runs an internal server in single-player mode
The single-player server can be shared on LAN, with LAN server detection
Made it possible to use client-side commands by enabling cheats (this is defaulted as disabled for old worlds)
Added an optional “bonus chest” to get started quicker
It’s now possible to trade with villagers. Added emeralds as a currency
You gain enchantment orbs from other tasks than just destroying monsters. Max enchantment level has been decreased to 30
Servers can automatically suggest and distribute texture packs
Added new world map elements (does not need a new map, but they’ll only appear in new areas)
Added cocoa beans
Added an Ender chest
Added tripwire
Stairs and levers can be placed up-side-down
Wooden logs can be placed sideways

there is a LOT of changed what is shown above is only a small part
there is CPU/ram/bandwith fixes too
a lot of backend stuff done

but one thing i do like is the book beeing writable
that will be very handy.

Won't we be waiting for a tekkit plus an update to all of the mods though for 1.3?

Probably. I may run a vanilla temp server for a bit but I'm not sure about that yet.

We've made substantial progress with moving away from Tekkit itself so we may be able to update slightly quicker also.

What plans do you have with the writable books?

so they've made a worse version of the ender chests mod, a worse version of the millenaire villages mod, a worse version of the better dungeons mod, a similar version of the tomes and XP books mod and a very similar thing to something from the secret rooms mod (tripwire is very similar to invisible pressure plate)

i'm so excited about this

to be fair though, from what i've heard from some modders, the change to SSP being coded like SMP is a step in the right direction

Yeah...it's more than a little bit rubbish that it wasn't already running like that tbh. Why on earth would they want to maintain two branches of code?

To be honest I see this update as Part 1 of 2 :p

There are bits and bobs added, but the main part of this update is probably to merge the two bits of code so that it'll be easier to add the API and modding tools in the next update.

I can't wait to see what Minecraft will be like in a years time! With an official modding source, using official API and tools - It could be a very exciting time for Minecraft :D
