*** Official OcUK Minecraft Server - Discussion and Rules ***

Vanilla launch events look fun I should be there for DeathCube with a bit of luck.

Also for anyone on Vanilla ... I'm taking on donations of wool & wood for the pirate ship build. Let me know if there are any materials you are looking for on your current/next build & I'll gladly ry to help out. :D

Not sure when you last played Minecraft Zumii or if you already know this but its far easier to farm wool from sheep now as they regrow their coats when they eat grass. So pen some up near your build and go nuts! :D

The launch events are more of a test for bigger and better events to come so you won't be missing out too much.

vanilla dispensers work with shears now, so you can have them be automatically cut just like in my sheep farm on the modded server. Collecting the wool would be a pain though

Aye, it's mainly wood that Andy and I would appreciate donations for. I'm not going too wool crazy like the Claptrap ;).

Edit - plus team work is always much better that farming mats on your own :p

If I hold a stick in my hand and then open a chest, I get the message "You need more Sulphur to shoot".

Does anyone know what the hell this is all about? lol :p

Went to go back home, server lagged, fell through the world, died, lost all my enchanted diamond gear.

gg.

And generally something is very wrong, either with MC or the server. Just now it took 3 seconds to open a chest.

The mod server seems to using a ton of CPU on the box. The vanilla server isn't using much at all. There are no other running servers/games on there right now.

Server Upgrade in December

I will be moving to a new dedi provider in December. This new provider will for a similar price to now give me a dedi with a far better CPU (3.8ghz clock vs 2.6) and more ram (32GB vs 24GB). There should be minimal downtime as I plan to run both the new and the old server together for about a week whilst I get everything up and running.

The only slight pain is the setup fee, which means an additional one-off payment of a month of server rent.

As such, I'm cheekily asking if anyone can help out with donations. We have had a few more recently and they are really appreciated but anything else people could give would be a huge help :) There are of course the usual donation rewards for players that do this.

Thanks :)

great to hear about the update, i suspect the modded server is using a lot of CPU power because we have such an early version of mystcraft which really isnt optimised well.

i would donate, but i literally have no money because the student loan people decided that i dont exist so i'm still trying to get my loan

No worries :) I don't really like spamming people for donations but I really want to get this server move implemented asap and I'm a bit low on cash myself atm.

I've asked yrth and 5punk to have a look at the modded server. It's quite concerning that it's using so much CPU with no players online. Hopefully they'll pick up on the mystcraft thing you've pointed out.

Dunno it might be fine now, I quit when I only had enough diamonds left to make a spade :p

Tbh the vanilla one has been laggy of sorts for about a week anyway (not to the extent that the world doesn't load and you fall into the void though). Just things like blocks not breaking instantly, the sounds being out of sync, mobs jerking along.

As I say, not sure if it's the server, or just this version of MC.

Cant say I've noticed any problems when playing from home (with Sphax) but I did notice lag at lunchtime today, at work. That was cured by logging out and back in though so it might be related to my machine rather than anything else...

I've not expierenced any lag whatsover with the Vanilla world - not aware of anyone else either? Could be your end toString

Again your more than welcome to the client I have set up which I have on google docs if you want to try that out?

Vanilla's CPU usage is almost comically low after looking at the modded server. However, neither server uses a ramdisk any more so chunk loading will be a little slower than it was about 3-4 months ago (when I made the change).

does an optimised version of mystcraft exist for 1.2.5 multiplayer?
