Yrth or 5punk, I guess you will be posting here when the server is officially "running" again?

I am kinda excited. Had plans :P Gonna check with AC if he still wants to do a build together tho. However, may start with Ars Magica.

Roo, if your free one day when the server is up and running give me a message, I quite fancy getting into/looking at ars magica as well.
 
Finaly the MOD+ server is ready to go :D

Ok so after much work and playing around we have finally got a server back up and running. This is only the first stage of the new launch. Currently we are still waiting on FTB to come back regards our pack but for now we have a temp link located in the HOW TO JOIN section here.

The server is whitelisted so if you are not on it you will need to post a request.

This is only the first stage of the relaunch of the server. We plan on doing more and sorting out some little minor issues we still have with the server like the spawn point. There is an in to the left of spawn when you start for temp homes and is the only current building.

Digger link will be sorted in a little bit for proper mining and yes mining is allowed in over world but NO QUARRIES in over world.

We currently have 3 player void worlds the over world and the nether and end the event worlds are not yet ready for players just yet but will be soon.

Anyway that’s enough chatting go have fun :D

I was able to get onto the server but couldn't interact with anything, other than open doors. Blocks would just reappear when trying to collect and if I got hit by a mob I'd get the knockback effect but no damage. It's like sever lag only I don't know if doors/knockbacks and things work with lag? Also the effects (like getting a block) never happened even after a period.

Edit: I'm guessing it's because i'm a "guest" on the server.

what does this mean ? :confused:
I have no FTB folder, FTB_Launcher just runs a program ?


(I try adding them as mods to FTB (within FTB), not sure if that works)

It's so annoying that EVERYONE just trots in and gets this working from day one. Ah yes, widjet, plibfile, dumpferkin java exception, clearly all I have to do is write my own operating system using spaghetti hoops and it'll blinking work :mad: Gawd I hate computers.

will i need to ask for a whitelist again or is my name already there

Dont expect me to be on much over the next few weeks because i have exams for the next few weeks and i also need to sort out lots of important stuff for next year at uni.

Are you still wanting a mystcraft world save from me or are we just doing what we did on the old server?

from what i can tell it is a modpack based around mods with more adventure and magic in them, with the same amount of permissions from mod authors as tekkit/technic (aka, none)

Fran don't mean to be pedantic or the such but do you have a basic grasp of windows folder structure?

Download the FTB pack which you have done.

On your desktop create a Folder called FTB and put the FTB.EXE in there

Launch the FTB.EXE and choose the Ultimate pack - it will then auto download the base modpack along with the minecraft jar etc.

Once it has loaded exit the game.

Go back in to the folder you created called FTB and then navigate to /FTB/Ultimate/Minecraft - inside here will be the folders that you need.

All you have to do is extract the folder that you downloaded from Linktart and copy them in to the /FTB/Ultimate/Minecraft folder.

Close the folder

Open the FTB folder you created at the start once more right click the FTB.EXE and send to desktop as shortcut.

Once the shortcut is made you need never re-approach the folder again just launch it from there.

Tomorrow night I will run through how to import it to a multimc instance and add shaders to the mix :P

Everything has to be exactly what it says and where it says it is.

like you said FTB.exe when really it is FTB_Launcher.exe, instant confusion for me and 30 minutes of wandering around looking for FTB.exe.

well it said copy them into the ULTIMATE, now there is no ultimate folder as default

But this is what FTB_Launcher.exe does.

It defaults to Direwolf20, so in order to get it to make a folder called ultimate, you first have to select FTB Ultimate.

You see where all this falls down for me ?

I don't know the difference between Ultimate, Direwolf or ExtraSpicy, but somebody assumes I do and hence assumes I know I have to change the non default mod, assumes I know to pick the one called Ultimate and hence assumes that it will create a directory called ultimate into which to copy stuff.
Instead, all I had was a directory called direwolf20 with nobody to tell me this was wrong, just to look for the one called ultimate instead.



If someone talks to me about an "FTB folder", I need to know if that is a folder called "FTB" or is just a folder with FTB stuff in it.

I also need to know how to answer questions like "New mod pack, want to download?"

Alongside all this, windows are opening and things launching and text is scrolling, I need to know if this is expected or just what happens when you mess up badly.

You are probably an ICT genius, I'm an idiot end user, I only do literal things which are spelt exactly the way it says, in the order in which it says to do them.

I appreciate the help and wouldn't have got this far without comparing the two descriptions on what to do, it's just not obvious enough for me to follow easily :o :)
 
In the top quote of mine that you used the second line states "create a folder" did you not read that? as you managed to quote it....

This would then imply that you have an FTB folder on your desktop....

My mistake about the .exe I was going off memory from when I installed it all....
