I've built a server with similar mods (though without mo creatures and hot air balloons) all fully up to date and not using Tekkit... End result after importing the current map: same lag issues... so clearly it is something to do with the map itself. I'm going to carry on investigating and hopefully find some way to sort it. If I can't find anything within an hour or two I'll have to go off and do other things for a while though.

edit: also tested it without bukkit mods enabled btw

Possible fix found. Please can people log on and test.

I've completely disabled all forms of world anchors. There were still 5 on the server that someone (or someones) had left somewhere stupid. I have my suspicions of purposeful griefing but I'll keep the details of those to myself for now.

Lag should be massively massively reduced. In the meantime I will be speaking with yrth about getting a the new standalone client sorted for the updated non-tekkit version (shouldn't take long).
 
Yeah, I've already disabled a lot of nolagg features but it sounds like it's causing issues even with *very* lenient settings. I will disable it now - it will take effect next restart. Let me know how things run in comparison.

edit: checked CPU usage and it seems okay (actually pretty low). Let me know if you get more lag and what you were doing/where you were (coords would be awesome). Also if you noticed it suddenly happen after someone joined (and ideally where they were when they joined). Keep in mind that just because the lag happened when someone joined doesn't mean that they are the cause though :)

Standalone Client Test

PLEASE NOTE: This client is built for the new version of the server that we have been testing.

Download the above and connect to the test server (you won't be able to connect to the live server with it).

A copy of the old world is enabled on the server so please test that and let me know how it goes. You can access this via the weird looking gold block portals I have placed.

Mo Creatures, Nether Ores and Hot Air Balloons are disabled on the server. They may come back if there is demand but at the moment they don't seem to add much to the server.

All the previous render data was lost in the upgrade so it will take a while to fill in.

I'll do a fullrender command in a minute though it will only progress on that whilst nobody is online.
 
Bringing the server down and updating it to our new standalone client. Some change has been made to the live server that has caused it to die so I may as well do this rather than spend time figuring out the problem.
 
.exe in the new launcher does nothing for me (work computer) and are there any plans for a fix for those of us that use Macs (home computer)?

Yeah, as soon as I get a second I'll look into a mac version. I'm sure that there must be an mcportable equivalent for Mac. If not, TrIn suggested an alternative way to do things which would probably work for Mac.

/re your work Pc, are you sure it's not being blocked in some way by virus checking software/etc?

All I've done is extract the contents of the zip into the default folder and tried running the .exe. I presume it should be looking elsewhere for anything?


I'm not too worried about it not working here on the work PC but it would be nice to be able to get on at home on my iMac... :)

Sounds like you don't have Java installed/updated or don't have JAVA in your path.
 
I just checked the new launcher. With regards to my texture pack I already had 99% of the textures done for the mods before I quit so I shall post a compatibility update on linktart later today for you.

Only take me 5mins to sort files out just takes about 2 hour to upload them at my speed :(.

Also not going to post a change log as lot textures have been revised since I last updated the OCUK edition of my pack. In total over 50 changes including the new ores Bios was happy about :).

How big is your texture pack? We could include it in the launcher perhaps, though not sure how often we could update it.
 

That's pretty screwed :S

Sadly I'm not massively surprised to hear that there has been corruption given all the issues we've had recently and the problems today. I can't do anything right now but I could try to pop in game much later tonight to spawn/repair stuff for you (unless another admin gets a chance beforehand)
