Same for me.
Sure I've had to smelt over 30k+ blocks for the stadium alone (which still isn't finished), but I would be ok with a new map now. Plus I've got it saved via that worlddownloader mod.

I've been running a Survival server with 2/3 people and had no trouble

Survival. Turns out that if someone dies with a load of XP then the orbs they leave behind bug out the server causing it to crash. Had to remove them with MCedit!

Me and maxi had that issue last night! Literally 5 minutes of 1fps while all the orbs were 'hoovered' up. Best way to deal with it is to jump in some lava so they all burn!

So..has anybody that didn't want a wipe suddenly not mind the idea?

Another idea I'm toying with is:

LinkTart main world stays as is until retail hits.
1.8 world generated but this world will be wiped when 1.9 comes out. The 1.9 world will also be wiped when retail (2.0?) hits.

When retail hits we get the full on wipe. Nothing carried forward at all.

Any thoughts?

I would prefer that idea but myself and yrthilian seem to have been converted to the map wipe crew after playing the Pre-release for abit!

I think there's got to be a fresh start at some point to be honest. I was hoping this would be enough warning/enough of a compromise for everyone.

Server Changes

Creative mode removed due to problems :/
Pinapp removed *sounds of nutty cheering*
Nether 1:8 ratio restored (hopefully)
MobArena reactivated

This is a good option I think although I'd like some of my resources moved to the 1.8/1.9 map. Not overly worried about getting them in retail as a clean slate would probably be best.

Well I hope a lot of people feel the same way as I do. My consensus of the server was literally a handful didn't want to lose their builds (half of them have changed their mind) and dozens didn't want to lose their items..

Before any decision I'll set up a poll and spam email the group on linktart to get as many votes as possible.

With 1.8 and 1.9 you'll be able to freely move items between the 1.x world and the current LinkTart one (if we go this route).

meh carrying all the items over seems pointless it's like creative mode/just spawning everything.

If people are desperate to keep their buildings, couldn't you copy the world and send them via FTP or Web server?

Or is it too large now?

Ah right. I assumed that was implied when I said that nothing would be taken forward

It's quite large. I could put a copy for download on linktart for a bit I guess.
