Got a new board to play with...decided to try something different to the usual....and turned out cheaper and better than the recent Abit ip-e that i had a play with although vdroop/vdrop is similar...here's a new score for now....and i think it's got a bit more left in it.:D

Not bad for £58;)

Running atm @ 8x450 something the Abit IP-E had no chance of doing lol.:)

Tables updated (press F5 to refresh).

Vocch - great score for the biostar. Underated board manufacturer imo, yanks seem to love 'em.

Extreme boys are starting to surface now too:cool:

Just a quick update had a play about with mem ratio and overclocked a bit more outta this E6850..

New 0704 BIOS, FSB up 3MHz... tweak tweak and still can't break 12s lol

So close m8 lol. Keep going! You still have plenty of room with upping the Vcore, certainly looks like thats a better cpu than mine so I dont't see why you cant get a better time. Try, try and try again!

Hows the vapo handling the heatload?

Ta-daa lol. Vapo is ok, though I'm not priming yet - the core temp I'm getting off the mobo is totally awol, so I can only go by drop in evap temp.

Im sure it aint as good as your chip if its running slower than your on vapo.

what vid has that chip StonecoldJimi ? Same batch as mine was.

Sure he's on vapo but still jimi has 0.1v less than mine to reach a similar speed. I wouldn't be surprised if he could surpass mine with 1.6v IF his mobo can run that high FSB. I still aint totally convinced that VID has anything to do with how far a cpu will overclock, just how much extra vcore a chip needs, in which case mine needs more to reach the same speed as jimi's.

Yeah, a lot less vcore is required under vapo compared to water for same speed.

Im not sure about the Vid, but this seemed very impressive for that vcore.

Anyway, Ill not litter this thread anymore :)

You aint littering m8, its a valid point you are making and good discussion.

I see your points regarding the cpu. How much difference in vcore does phase make then? Lets say I put your cpu in my rig jimi how much vcore would I need to reach the speed you are at considering you need 1.52? I'm always interested in extremecooling having never dabbled in that area.

I've toyed with going for phase for some time now but unless its getting a lot more than I can get on water then I see little point in it. I understand that silicon works better the colder it is (esp sub-zero) and therefore requires less vcore for similar speeds than other forms of cooling but I always assumed the point of having phase was that because temps were no longer an issue you could apply more vcore allowing for an even greater overclock? I guess there are 2 sides to the coin huh?

I guess in short what I'm trying to say that if you gave it a little more vcore it could go faster no?

Looking at the Q6600 table at XS, the subzero systems are using at least 1.2v compared to a water cooled system at the same speed.

As to why they don't go much higher and stick 1.7v + through - I think is down to the extra heat of the quads raising the temps above zero which causes condensation. I may be wrong, I don't have any experience using it.

It seems to much hassle for me as I change my mobo too often :p, i couldn't be bothered with all the grease etc , i was going to get a phase system when Easy got his, but he didn't seem too chuffed with it and sold it a month later. I think he said it was noisey too even though he had it 'quietened'
