Yes, roughly 0.15v to 0.2v lower for same speed with these chips I reckon. Water is in fact a better way of cooling Kentys for long-term 100% usage unless the phase unit is tuned for it - Vapochill went for the schmaltz of -50C wow factor, whereas they would hold down a lot better tuned for -30C (they would even admit that themselves).

Yeah, it''s a bit noisy too, say 60dB. I can't play with this when my lady's around, she can't bear it at all. She's on her way, so I'd better sling my hook.. o/

Just came across this thread so I've dug out an old screenie from when I was first clocking this cpu.

As the voltage goes up the power dissipation of the CPU goes up exponentially, most single stage systems like the vapochill LS just can't handle that amount of power maybe 1.6v+ real

Specially built (what you guys call "custom phase") single stages can do, any respectable high power cascade should be able to handle huge evaporator loads with good temperatures unless its specifically designed to reach lower temperatures at lower capacity - for example a GPU.

I don't see the point in running an extreme cooling system if you don't want it just for benchmarks/fun or just for the hell of it/bragging rights, there is no "logic" to it

Jimi - i think on another forums one of the asetek guys did pretty much admit that the LS wasn't that great with quad cores :)

hehe

No m8 the congratulations was heartfelt - 2nd place is something to be proud of;)

Weescott just got humiliated by w3bbo. :p

w3bbo I think you knew you could get a faster score but you just decided to hold back until some one beats you and then you can kick them in the groin. :)

Now that would just be plain sneeky tbh.

No in all honesty I wouldn't have bothered going higher if weescott hadn't beaten me just the same as he wouldn't have if I hadn't beaten his time. No doubt he will come back again with an uber score. I guess we are egging each other on:P

Difference is I don't think my chip can take any more wheres he is limited by fsb which will no doubt change with a better mobo.

And W3bbo thinks he has an average chip. ill buy it from him :)

Ok...I'll go so far as to say 'above average';)
Tbh tho there are other chips on here I would prefer to get my hands on.

Oh fudgesticks!

You made me promise not to try again soon as well!

I bet you held onto that time just for this purpose didn't you?

pah.

well done m8

A promise is a promise I'm afraid:p

I thought I would contribute my score. Not bad for a "cheap" setup
