** Official omg I just got my 5870 thread **

I still think your wrong. or have your wires crossed.

can someone else jump in... and confurm the truth because im pritty sure i am lol
all reference 4870s and 4890s could be softmodded for voltage tweaks, same as 5850 and 5870

Bahh, I want a 5870...

I really should stop reading these threads, you guys are making me really jealous..

One thing that is annoying though is all this fanboism, people should just quit all that BS, as it's completely pointless imo.

I must say these cards are a lot bigger than I had imagined, I didn't think they were going to be that much bigger than the 4870/90's.

Someone has probably already asked this, but I will ask again, are the fans noisy?

And how long do you think it will be before there will be WC blocks available for them?

in 4 days probably about 3 hours.
from nodding off to totaly wipeing out... :p

though i did sleep last night and what a glorious sleep that was i was that Fck`d and sleep deprived no matter if i was totaly excited i still managed to drop off into a coma when the time was right and woken up at 7am this morning lol :D

Would have been hilarious if after all that you missed the delivery driver :D

jk

Watch your language towards OCUK they are doing the best job they can. i think considering they have done a awsome job... keep those types of opinions to your self please.

Got to disagree on that one virus (awesome job, not language - that isnt acceptable), everyone makes mistakes like the stock entry one, but not correcting the XFX 5870 orders to sapphire's while they had the chance was bad.

After your lack of sleep I think if this had happened to you you would have been round to their offices with a machine gun :)

In many ways it is a real shame because I think this launch the guys worked hard behind the scenes to secure stock AND they took note of previous complaints about launch day price gouging. Damn shame they let the stock error issue overshadow the good.

To be fair sounds like he's had a right old time about this. Not the first time even this month OCUK have completely underestimated demand and messed people about.

To be fair to OCUK the problem lies with poor supply from AMD, they could easily have pushed the release date back a couple of weeks and stocked up retailers in the meantime.

Did they? I had a 4870 sapphire bought one day one and could never softmod the voltage up to the day i sold it. Or was it a later development?

No chance, the problem was a combination of human error and a system that obviously doesnt have realtime stock updates.

if it was of reference design then yes. Voltagefactory or rivatuner could be used

I am gonna wait until the Nvidia cards are released and reviewed before I take the plunge. I must admit the 5800 series looks nice though :)

I love the smell of hardware in the afternoon :-)

Hopefully the Corsair TX850w psu and the Switctech GTZ SE waterblock will be here tomorrow to finish the build.

Darnit - why did I agree to help a friend find out tonight why his PC is rebooting all the time <sad face> He owes me one!

Can someone tell me what the big deal is about this card?

Up to 27% larger e-penis!

On a serious note though the card is hyped about cause of the performance, I mean in some tests it comes close to a dual GPU card (GTX 295), that deserves some praise?

And that is with first gen drivers...
