To be fair sounds like he's had a right old time about this. Not the first time even this month OCUK have completely underestimated demand and messed people about.
 
The 280/285 is the same technology/GPU, same processor cores, same memory architecture, same feature set. Just differences in speed, memory speed etc. The GPU is the same.

Are you sure your not a bit of an ATI fanboy, you have a hard time accepting anything I have said.

these are my first ATI's ever. used to be Nvidia before so no not a fanboy/

It's not just the messed up stock numbers, they're also taking forever to reply to emails. Plus the emails they do reply with are show little consideration or care. I've been a loyal customer for a long while, and I was really looking forward to yesterday and today, and they've completely messed me around. It's almost enough to encourage someone to look elsewhere!

To be fair they have a right to voice their concern and frustration over the hiccup yesterday - but they should be talking to Fatboy or the OCUK staff, not constantly repeating the whole mantra that they've been stabbed in the back, lied to, it's all a conspiracy, etc - sorry, but it's getting really, really tiring, and frankly, it's rubbish.

Yes, OCUK had a bit of a stocking, and stock reporting/control cockup. **** happened. Yes, it's not the first time it's happened with OCUK, as I'm sure others can attest to, but it's not like it happens every day of the week. So do what the rest of us do and contact OCUK, and see if they can make it up to you - free TIM cleaner and some Arctic Silver, can of dust-off, perhaps a future discount for the trouble, etc.

Deal with it and move on, otherwise you'll just tie yourself up into knots over it, and it's really not worth the stress for a couple of hundred quid that was always disposable money anyway [otherwise you wouldn't have spent it] and a seriously in demand graphics card you'll have to wait a few days - maybe a week - for.

FWIW I have sympathy for the people who's orders have been cocked up - and I'd suggest keeping us updated to see how Fatboy and the rest of them sort you out - but constantly whining about it like a nine year old who has had his ball taken away by the next door neighbour won't make things better - it's just annoying.

Edit: Also, I'd suggest calling up rather than emailing - it's invariably quicker. I'm not a fan of email as a source of business contact, as I know plenty of occasions where I have been sidetracked and forgotton to reply to people at work for a couple of days :eek:
 
Just out of curiosity why would anyone need that long a warranty?

I know for a fact that in a years time I will be upgrading my video card anyway and from what I have seen in this thread most people seem to upgrade within a year.

because asus warrants against any dmg within reason for voltage tweaking...

I can understand people can be frustrated about the level of service and such, but it's best to raise these with the staff directly, that's why they have the customer service part of the forum where such issues can be raised. it's where I go to voice my issue about an order or I ring them...trust me I know how it feels, I had a massive saga with compression fittings I bought from OcUK. Ask reflux cos he knows most of the story. But that aside, if they have a problem, they need keep it outside of threads like this because people are discussing the products they have received and others want to know how they perform. Simples :D ;)
 
You know if they have 200 in stock and 500 people order, there are going to be 300 unhappy people.. there's not much they can do about it.
And who the **** is to say that they underestimated demand? How do you know they simply couldn't source any more stock for launch day?

All you people whinging could do with a good dose of logic.

BTW Virus thank you for pointing out that idle temp to me, turns out my intake and exhaust were at a 5v setting, now sorted back to 12v
