The more I play this game - the more I get bored...

I know what you mean. I keep telling myself that's it just the technical test, it's still to go to beta and onwards so can only get better... The scale of the game is quite promising, but it's dull as dishwater to play at the moment.
 
Are you guys in a Squad/Outfit that find it dull?

The game's nowhere near ready & the Certs/Unlocks/Changes to come soon will really enhance the game but to enjoy the game more you need to be in a Squad with others, not randoms though as that's generally pointless.
 
I hope the dullness is from the lack of players and lack of squads/platoons/outfists.

Is the proximity VOIP in the beta?
 
Not in an outfit, but in squads. Also as a loner at times (I could play PS1 as that and still enjoy it), even when there is a large action going on there just isn't any urgency or tension generated. I do only play as infantry (vehicles are just something else to shoot), so hopefully it's just not there yet. As I said, at this point it is still just s tech test so still a long way to go...
 
It's not a tech test, that was before it went into closed beta which was on the 6th August.

Numbers of players will very soon start getting bigger, they've only let in previous and current subbed PS1 players so far, expect a big influx on Friday when the PC gamer keys are let in, and even more players in a couple of weeks when general twitter/facebook keys are let in.

When the guy on twitter says Friday 5pm for PCGamer key holder, he really means the Friday after, or possibly even the Friday after that, lol.
 
Only played it for a day and i'm bored as well. It feels like the multiplayer of a game that got 4 out of 10.

Instant actions sucks, it's like people randomly spawning around you rather than there being actual fronts. There's a bee nest of action over various points of the map and that's it.

Spawn, run around, kill, die, spawn, repeat.

All classes feel the same.

I'm sure planetside 1 was different when it came out simply because it brought something new. Now it's like the same game but everyones expectations have developed over 8 years and it needs to be good. Not just PS1 with better graphics.
 
The small skirmishes are ten times better than the current large warfare just ten vs ten meeting between open ground until a lib comes past and ends the fun :-)
 
The games is being targeted at being playable on 5 year old PCs. That has been there aim from day 1 to reach the biggest audience.
The specs listed on the forums are "beta" specs not endgame specs. Theres tonnes of optimization to be done both server and client side.

Your not alone here. The devs have acknowledge it.
Instant action is broken. Limits and cooldowns are bing added.
TTK in a lot of cases is too quick, this needs looking at across the board.
The capture mechanisms are poo, this is allready being fixed.
Back hacking ****s stuff up, this is being addressed.
The medic, engineer and other channeled skills ar broken.
Stacking sunders is a nooby, annoying tactic that makes fights last longer and just become spam fests.
There needs to be a better grief system.
Everynight, every empire rushes to the centre of the map and we fight there for hours and hours. Boring.
And yes, AA is poo.


By default my impression of the game was poo tbh and I have waited and pimped the game for years. I see the certs and tech tree as being where the game starts to shine.
You need to decide how you want to play and then cert for that.

You like to be a tanker, then buy the AP guns, get the zoom optics, increase the auto heal power, duration and activation time.

You like to be an in your face shock trooper, then get the forward grips. (This makes a massive difference).

You like to plan your shots and use the iron sights. Dont get the grips, get a scope instead.

Is the proximity VOIP in the beta?
Yes, but it doesnt get used much on the Euro servers.
Go onto the US servers and you get the cast from Southpark and the theme to the fresh prince every 2 mins.
 
Vanilla, give it a few weeks. They are bringing big changes this week or the next to the way the game plays.

They acknowledge the instant action problem and are going to fix it as well as changing base capture mechanics meaning that there will be more of a 'frontline' and not just random max units dropping in.

They do need to buff the AA a bit though, can't wait till they release more certs and I can get my A2A missiles/rockets for those stinking libs.

They really need to open up the cert and tech tree as people are getting bored ****less. I also pray that they increase the TTK, especially when I am vanu against an NC who will kill me with like 3 ****** bullets despite me unloading a clip into him.
 
I am finding it pretty dull at the moment. It feels like an all or nothing situation either I am in combat and getting arse raped or I am wondering around trying to work out where I am and where the action is.

You are doing it wrong.

Game has potential, they have given a way for it to be more casual with the auto find squad system, but really you need to sign up for an Outfit to take advantage of coordinated teamplay this game allows for.

Yeah I prob am "doing it wrong" but perhaps it should be made clear how to do it right.

Don't get me wrong it has potential and I will enjoy playing it with friends but atm meh.
