I have to say that i have been playing PS2 for quite a while now (had very early access as a PS1 veteran). It was a bit ropey at the start but the game has come on so quickly and last night i kind of had a goosebump moment as i spawned and walked outside just as loads of NC galaxy's flew overhead on their way to a battle. Their must have been about 30-35 of them and i was just looking up in awe. It took me back to the early PS1 days, which is a very good thing indeed.

Can't wait for the full release - see you on the battlefield

I think I was next to you tonight Jongo, were you in a Skyguard on Esamir? I was in a Skyguard next to you and we were on top of a mountain/hill picking off Mossies taking off from Saerro I think it was. My in game name was nitty.

Yeah that was me, only got the skyguard yesterday and I have fallen in love with it although it is just a bit too powerful, especially in groups.

What else would you want them to say? the game did take a massive step back after last weeks patch in terms of bugs - once you post your initial 'wow I love it' or 'wow I hate it' and have made a post about a cool battle you had or what you think about such and such a gun/vehicle, you're now getting into the realm of becoming more aware of some of the nasty bugs present and how they detract from the gameplay... something else to post about no?

Anyway give it 4 weeks I'm pretty sure people are going to be whining about a couple of these same bugs when it is no longer a beta.

Well then wait till its not beta then whine.

Im going to start having a go at people praising the game.

Personally, i think either approach is pointless. Why dont we discuss and update on the game in this game discussion thread, good and bad eh?

I am in neither camp, I just no better than to whine about a game in beta, and more so whining on a 3rd party forum does nothing for the game, but guess you don't get t his

Pointing out a particular bug or what you feel is an underdeveloped / poorly executed feature is just a another point of discussion. I'm fairly certain everyone posting in this thread is quite aware this isn't a hang out of the dev team; it is a forum they like discussing w/e game they're currently playing however.

Also articulating whatever gripe you may have with the game on such a place as here may help you refine your thoughts better as to how you explain the issue and perhaps give you better ideas to how it could be resolved. So should you then take it to the PS2 forums (which I post on frequently; don't know about others) you can better get your point across.

That is not what I'm saying which is pretty clear, pointing out bugs and issue is one thing, whining like below is totally different, just took a few random from the tons on here.

Sorry Amigafan2003, just don't agree... graphics look pretty naff... and some gosh awful texture in parts. I know it's beta before you say... but some of the world just looks awful. The texture quality is terrible. Draw distances are good, and it looks pretty good when not relatively close. But the soldiers and vehicles and a lot of the landscape just look crappy when mildly close. For a AAA game I would hope they sort out the textures before release

Are there any refunds given for the alpha squad pack, I have tried the game out and really dont like it. I get 20fps in any team fight which is unacceptable in a modern fps, even on low settings.

Personally i enjoy the fanboi banter as much as the whining, gives me a good idea about whats going on in games i dont play, like WarZ for instance. What I cant stand is the grey man with no opinion skulking around moaning about whining. Why read the thread if it bothers you so much? Wouldnt not clicking that little mouse button be easier?

What you dont seem to KnoW is that this forum is about PC Games and this is a thread about PS2. What we do here see, is dscuss our experiences of PC Games. lmao, now thats a first, someone saying I don't have a opinion, I suppose whiners will be whiners, they cant add anything constructive so they just whine.

It's maybe not one you agree with but he's allowed it without labels of "whining" etc and having a "straw-man" "lol, you think SOE read this forum?!" type comment. It was complaints about the game being talked about so completely reasonable.

Sleepless is pointing out similar facts to my own - it's someone's opinion and they shouldn't get beat on for making it here where the game is being discussed. You have attempted to make argument with sleepless for the same though and he has, unfortunately, rather taken the bait.

If you don't want to read an open discussion about the game then maybe head to a forum like planetside universe that is likely to be a little more biased towards the game.

Personally, I played it till about 6 weeks ago when other releases took my interest. While it's quite decent and certainly a perfectly fine MMO shooter I DID find it a little dull and "slow". It will likely change though. I have VERY fond memories of PS1 both when I started playing it in the first weeks of release and upon re-joining for a while in the build up to PS2 tech test and beta. I've had MANY good times in game (being a gunner in galaxy gunship flying in a 5 ship formation with constant "radio" chatter over teamspeak calling targets, pointing out interceptors to our fighter screen and other "well organised" stuff is some of the most fun I've had in a game for years) and looking forward to more in this. Will be taking another look soon no doubt.

lol jump on him, my comment was not aimed at any one person and just about the general whining going on, he was the one who did the jumping, aah you got to love people who only read in threads what they want.

I'm done with this bit now, just get a bit tiered of people who have nothing better to do than whine about a game in beta!

As I said you only read in threads what you want to see and not what's actually being said.

I was reading here/forums and watching TBs vid on his criticisms with the game and all the while all I could think was "It's a game for everyone, that's why you cannot balance it".

For example;
Air and Anti-Air in relation had and still have a rocky balancing issues, one is too powerful then the cards get switched. This is a problem when you try to make a game like this so available for most gamers. You can't have an overpowered air unit so easy to play but neglect AA, you also can't have weak air units or they'll be completely useless to everything. But that's PS (and most games) in that they need every unit, weapon, vehicle, easy to play.

If however you made air units something harder to play, their power could be used more realistically and AA too. But I don't want PS to do that, I do however wish something in the future would. But everyone wants to play everything easily and they'd complain and moan on the forum "wahh I can't fly". Ahhh one day..

But my point is that they need to cater for all, grab as many players for revenue and it's impossible to balance unless you make the game harder and more realistic which people do not want, so you end up with an arcade shooter that is very hard to fine tune into a sweet spot because everything is so damned easy to use.

Honestly, who appointed you forum police? People telling you the reality and you sticking your fingers in your ears and refusing to listen. Grow up a little mate, youre accusing other people of doing exactly what youre doing. Were on a games forum, if you dont like talking about games, then go do something else, its not that hard - hopefully youll take your own advice. Id rather not be talking about PS2 rather than about a troll on the PS2 thread, see that how works?

Its a fair point, and I did find that adding another burster made a difference to scaring off the scythes, so maybe thats how it should be, become good in one thing but have an achilles heel - in the case of my max some heavy Assault that popped out from behind a rock.

I think the game is fairly well balanced at the moment, maybe the cert gain is a bit high - playing solidly for a couple of hours can grab you a 100 certs. You could pretty much mop up everything in a month, I cant see how theyd make any cash.

They haven't posted anything about any upcoming wipes - I would hope when they add Amerish or the big upcoming changes to spawning/meta game.

Who do you play as? TR or NC?

Im playing as VS and find myself always getting owned by the t9 carv that gun just seems insane. But I think its just swings and roundabouts there are times when the other empires dominate the map I think its mainly determined by the outfits in each faction and when they are online currently.

From playing VS I wouldn't say they are overpowered if anything they just got buffed up to an acceptable level with the range drop off boost and accuracy improvements. Before we were a master of nothing and just average at everything.

I do think in tank battles we mostly have an advantage with the magrider that is a beautiful tank compared to the others and with it strafing ability it can dodge shots like a boss, but it does seem very susceptible to lock on missiles if you are close enough since it doesn't have the acceleration to move out the way quickly enough.

Anyway as the Vanu say Technology Is might see you on the battlefield

Play TR exclusively, I do like the T9 but have been playing mostly with the chain gun. Makes no sense to do that, theres a spin up so a second or so lag between pulling the trigger and the thing going off, but with the extended magazine its just insane how many rounds you can put down.

I suspect its more my perception than anything, just blaming every death on the buff. The magriders are nightmares, there are some outposts we cant supply with Prowlers and the sight of magriders coming over the hill is game over.
