*** Official Planetside 2 Thread ***

The ultra textures look like 'high' quality to me. By the I mean, they look like what 'high' should be.... as before they were abysmal. Still many more textures to fix IMO.

1 shot sniper kills. all factions get access to ohk snipers, they make infantry zergs challenging, takes a bit of skill as well :)
Stealth classes with shotguns. removed from launch, they get scout rifles/smg eventually?

Overpowered Air Units. they nerfed rocket pods massively, they are just ever so slightly underpowered now, libs are back and booming

Solo gameplay taking precedence over team game play mechanics. seeing more and more coordinated outfit play both friendly and enemy related

Automatic Health Regen. has zero bearing from what I have seen, just as many medics, takes ages to occur, bio lab dependent, not an issue

Infantry Units that can take 3 tank shells to the face. Not direct hits, in which you're dead immediately, splash damage is just right on tank shells

Tanks that die to 2 infantry fired rockets. only on rear armour and not even then

Invisible tanks. they're fixing it this evening, beta is beta :p

Invisble planes. they're fixing it this evening, beta is beta :p

Instant ejection from vehicles. agreed, hopefully one day they'll make an animation

Retarded Players. as in every game ever made

A F2P Model that has quickly and aggresivley turned into a PayToWin Model. it isn't pay to win, it's pay to sidegrade, you can access all weapons free of any payment, in the large majority of cases, default weapon is better than some sidegrades

Last minute changes to core mechanics and weapon systems. just like most betas every released, certainly exactly like PS1 beta

Lack of faction representation and balance. i think there's great faction representation, why else would there be so much loyalty and player driven backstory, balance is a challenge for all fps/mmo games

Its a great game , but there are many reasons not to like it.

It has some flaws, but it has a really solid base imo, the flaws are simply areas where the devs have been pressed for time to get the game to release, and I think it will be a great game for a long time :) just like PS1 :p

Honestly i don't care for bugs, I am just enjoying the beta the way it is as much as I can. Look at the battles you can get! That one in my video is small compared to a good one.

We just took the crown in one almighty swoop. Was done in the blink of an eye. I think there was definatley some team based organisation in that. Only got half hour play in today. Roll on tommorow, early finish from work fingers crossed. Did win £100 on a scratch card today, 60 should get me a decent headset I hope.

Hmmm.

1 shot sniper kills - to the head only. no issue with that, it's very hard to get a headshot on a moving target.
Infils cannot equip shotguns now
Air got nerfed - well rocketpods did, they were the main problem. Air isn't op now, at all. It's about right.
Solo?! Must be kidding. This game is barely enjoyable solo, with a squad or an outfit it's epically good. Solo players can do pretty much nothing but follow the zerg.
Auto health regen is only a biolab ownership benefit, and it's so slow that it takes 3 minutes to regen all your heath, out of combat. Does not change a thing.
A prowler will kill any infantry (HA no problem) with a single shell. It has 2 shells per magazine. HE rounds are deadly against infantry, even more so.
The only way ANY tank in the game dies to 2 rockets, is if both rockets hit it in the rear. If that happens, you need better awareness. Normally it's 4/5/6 rockets to kill a single tank, depending where you hit and what rockets you're using.
Invisible tanks etc is a bug which is being fixed right now.
Instant ejection - if the pilot does not have the ejection seat (which is VERY expensive) they will die on impact with the ground.

Retarded players - welcome to online FPS games :p
It's not P2W, they've just said (within the last hour) that they are reducing the time it'll take to unlock weapons with cert points by 30%.
Last minute changes? Presume you mean the "bad" recoil? that was taken out hours after being put in.
Lack of faction balance - all factions are very well balanced IMO. TR have best weapons overall, poor MBT, poor ESF. NC have strong ESF, medum weapons, medium MBT. VS have strong weapons (accurate but bad at range, high damage drop off) and the best MBT, and medium ESF.

If you want to tank - go VS
Want to fly - go NC
Want to play infantry - go TR.

Every faction has their strengths and weaknesses.

Sometimes I wonder if people actually play the game...:D

Isn't the pay part the bit where you can purchase vehicle weapons/additions/implants instantly which some take (last I checked) SO LONG for even a few hours a day for weeks?

Haven't played in weeks, however through looking at what was going to be pay to override gameplay unlocks it was exactly that, pay to win.
You can't just mask pay2win under a different moniker (pay to sidegrade/unlock quicker) and pretend it isn't.

But how else is a f2p game going to work? They'd have to be stupid not to offer advantages over people who won't pay a penny otherwise why do it at all? That is of course if you don't think advantage=win but then you're arguing semantics.

Just, before anyone gets their fanboy knickers in a twist, I plan to play the game, but there's nothing wrong with stating something factual. Note, this opinion was based on old builds, I'd love to be proven wrong and that it's changed but I don't expect that at all, nor do I care. The only thing that annoys me is when people say it isn't, when it is.

i guess you see this as p2w where as others don't.

it's unlike other games where you can buy items that non paying customers will never be able to get. which i see as p2w. i remember when i played archlord or whatever it was called. it was F2P RPG but when you found a chest you could only open these with keys which you had to buy with cash.

i do get your point the paying customer will get an advantage with unlocking weapons instantly.

i prefer the system in planetside 2 as you will still be able to unlock anything without paying and don't have silly restrictions :)

That's what conflicts me, that people are in two minds "Yes, I agree it's an advantage" but "It's not P2W". So which is it?! :p

I'm not sure what to expect on day one, remember battlefield 3 on release when other people hadn't unlocked flares but you had missles? I expect that but lasting a lot longer! Probably something that'll rattle me enough to whine on a forum for absolutely no reason at all.

I'll still play it :grumble: Heh. Obviously after some time everyone's got everything, except new players, pretty obvious what they'll do next.

Thing is, none of the different weapons you buy or unlock are actually technically "better" than the standard ones, they're different.

Take the TR medic guns - the T1 cycler which you start with great at medium range, pretty good at long and ok at short range.

The sidegrades - one is a high ROF which is awesome at close range, but useless at long range. The other is a 2 round burst rifle which is awesome at long range but useless at close range.

P2W for me means that if you buy something for money, you get a big advantage over anyone who hasn't bought it. No so here.

If anything, it's pay to unlock stuff faster. However they've addressed this with the cert gain adjustment.

Basically - you can buy the weapons but it won't give you a huge advantage.

All your doing buy purchasing weapons with SC is cutting out the time it would take to unlock them in game, however that new spanky weapon you just bought won't necessarily kill people any better than the one you replaced ;)

question guys does it really matter which Empire you choose ?

Not really. Just play whatever you like the most - whatever balance currently exists, both game mechanics and population will change drastically over the months, so I just wouldn't pin choosing a faction so heavily upon who you think has the best guns and tanks or which faction had the lowest pop for the last few days.

i seem to suck a flting a plane on this game and others such as battlefield. was thinking about getting a joystick...is this a good idea lol :P

It can be used but a mouse and keyboard is better; just keep practicing with flying, it isn't hugely difficult just takes getting used to - what is it you're trying to fly in particular and what is the problem you're having with it?

well its the fighter jets mainly. i can do the other1 and the galaxy. i just see people using the jets and so much better i get in them then die haha for a stick might make it better for me than trying to use the keyboard and mouse lol :P

As this is F2P, how many of you will play it free or are you all looking to pay for stuff?

Just wondering what the general consensus is.

depends cos i am thinking f2p but may get some apprence items. i tend to say i will play for freee but still end up paying. LOL is a good example haha
