*** Official Planetside 2 Thread ***

Is there a cap on how much you can spend on the game?

Or is it the case that people can spend as much money as they like to buy credits for upgrades etc? In this case spending could go over £100 whereas the retail price may have been £30-£35, had it not been F2P.

Can someone clarify this for me please?

These models work entirely on the basis a small number of individuals will spend £1000s, a small number more will spend £100s and everyone else will spend nothing.

No steam overlay/actual detection atm

And everything says UI-Next and no description for what server/race etc. you are selecting lol

Without reading the whole thread can this be played FTP or do you need to use the cash shop to progress in the game?

Also dl this through steam i was getting 70 meg, my speed is now at 100kbs down to 0 at times?

anyone else having speed issues?

You can buy as much as you like. Ive spent aout 50 quid getting the alpha squad pack and some extra cash. Although i suspect i might wait a bit until the purchasing sorts itself out.

But of course the flipside to that is you can play for free for as long as you want.

Precisely this. They do this in other games, and some people go insane and spend thousands on upgrades etc. You buy "station cash" or something like that, and you can spend it in whichever game you want that is a SOE game. If you want to spend in in PS2.. then spend as much as they have available to buy. I.e. you could buy every single camo skin going if you wanted..... or unlock weapons early etc.

My fear for ANY F2P game is that buy unlocking things early it becomes exceptionally difficult to compete if you don't have those upgrades etc.

Sleepless> It might be worth not spending money anyway.. in case you want to swap server and can't take the weaps/upgrades with you etc. Pain in the butt that the purchase mechanism isn't working though!!

Cheers for the clarity:)

Hmmm there doesn't seem to be much difference then between the F2P model and the dlcs model churned out for the likes of BF3 where more than half of the game was missing on release date lol and subsequently released as '5DLCs'

It seems those who don't spend money for upgrades or dlcs are always at disadvantage. Without spending extra, you won't be able to effectively proceed further in the game. This sucks :(

I keep getting the following error:

"LaunchPad was unable to connect."

Anyone else?

Edit: My bad. Had fiddler running which was blocking the connection. That'll teach me to develop and play at the same time :p
