Can I just say that despite its problems I having a lot of fun with PS2, its kind of what I wanted BF3 to be. :D

Ditto.

It's a long time since I've gone "holy **** it's midnight and I've been on since 6pm".

Simply epic game.

If they bring half the content out that they are talking about I might as well resign from my job now!

Went to cobalt server and made a vanu character and I had such a great time with the VS teamwork.

I was messing up on sniping a lot as the VS don't have much bullet drop like TR & NC

The same for me, on lots of occasions I have been gob smacked at how fun the battles have been. It's not all perfect and sometimes you can get either stomped on or it's all quiet, but when it kicks off in some 2 or 3 way action it's like nothing I have ever played. For me it's got to be my game of the year going on the potential for fun and team play alone. It reminds me of when I first played BF1942 and was amazed that all the other characters on my screen were real people :p

Also for some intense 3 way battle action, check this video :)

Ha good vids, had a threeway (ooh err) last night at a biodome. Spent all night taking it then protecting it, until VS finally grabbed it back thanks to the smurfs popping up and splitting the defenders.

Im always amazed at how the mass of players manage to coordinate defences. Look at the biodome. At one point we had attacks on the platforms as well as two transporters and all were being well defended. No communication, just the right amount of people doing the right job. No idea how that happens, good design?

Still going to be time to squad up soon. My heavy is almost decked out, my mossie is too and just prowler front armor for a good basic set up.

The gameplay in PS2 feels very unrefined. It probably has something to do with having a massive player count and most of them taking the shortest path to certain death then rinse/repeat.

It's not too hard to find enemy Sunderer spawn points but I haven't found anything you can do to hamper or destroy them alone on foot. Is there any way to find organized play?

From the few hours I've played, this feels like BF2142 with too many players.

Sunderers are buggers and probably for good reason. The best thing you can do with a sunderer is constantly tag it (Q) which tells everyone else its in the area. That will have tanks and infantry coming at it hoping for cheap kills. If its parked under an overhang you can theoretically get on top and have enough time unnoticed to plant 2 x c4 which would blow it back to sunderer heaven. Never seen it done personally, except on friendly sunderers by people trying to deploy in a given area.

You shouldn't be able to destroy a Sunderer on your own as a grunt. You might get lucky as a tank or aircraft but a Sunderer should be gaurded by a tank or Skygaurd. Sunderers should require co-ordination to take down.

Is there any way to find organized play?

Join a good outfit.

No they really don't, it can take up to 4 passes with hellfire rockets to take down a sunderer. Which I think is fine, but they do not make short work of them...

Hellfire rockets make short work of sunderers.

Not in my experience, attacked a couple of sunderers last night, generally takes two of you to blow it up. Only fair I suppose, if air could blow up sunderers at will there would be much howling and gnashing of teeth. The annoying thing is, the explosions from the rocket in no way reflect their damage, its like the vanilla lightning, lots of flame, rubbish damage. Although hellfires are admittedly better.

Just calc'ed up some basic time frames based on asking peoples average hourly cert gain to expect to specialise a specific vehicle, with option to switch from A2A to A2G and then gave up counting other upgrades. 470~ hours as a free player, knock of 100hrs~ for subs, reduce a bit more if you buy the weapons but can't buy the rest of the stuff.

This is just one vehicle, forget infantry and other stuff, even if you pay out the nose it's still a very, very time consuming and/or expensive game regardless if you do either, both, or none. Seriously even as a paying/sub/cash spending player it's going to take a lot of time :(

This makes me want to play it less because I hate the idea of going one route to have all the benefits, spreading it thinly around a lot of specs to make it next to useless without cumulative upgrades and the idea that spending £19 or more on ONE vehicles weapon assortment is ridiculous.

I don't like free to play(never wanted it to be) and I don't like cash shops.
Of course, if I spent say £40/50for the price of your average mmo and subscribed, nope, still not really getting your monies worth.

I'm starting to find the player base in this game pretty stupid.

From what I see, everyone just goes from A to B and have face-offs with the enemy without using any tactics, flanking them or taking out sunderer's to stop the enemy from spawning.

It's doing my head in. :/

Maybe I should change server to Woodman since people keep saying there is a lot of OCUK there in a outfit.

IMO a there isn't that much difference between a fully pimped up vehicle and a bog standard one - the latter can certainly still take out the former with a skilled pilot and/or good squad play.

I don't see an issue.

I played PS1 for 6 years - I'm quite looking forward to not having everything unlocked within the first month!

Although I do prefer straight up "cert point" and builds ala PS1 rather than the class system of PS2 - but it's just different.

Having better AA cannons/missles/flares is going to totally own a bog standard one. Then take into account being able to slow down being locked on, having better agility and more.

Dunno, a lot of people just don't see it as a benefit when it quite clearly is.

It is a benefit but in PS2 there are almost NO 1v1 battles. You are part of a larger collective and while you might be at a disadvantage against a fully specced opposition there are plenty of ways for you to beat him. Approach from an unexpected direction, get the drop on them, pick on pre-damaged targets etc etc.

There are a wealth of ways to be very useful to your team AND rack up the kills even with the basic kit everyone has access to. Every good kill streak I have starts with positioning to take the enemy by surprise and get the elevation or angle advantage in the ensuing fire fight. That applies whether I'm on foot, in a tank or flying high.

About 70% of my battles are 1vs1.
