*** Official Planetside 2 Thread ***

few questions for you all.

what class is best to rank up first? or easiest
the graphics setting you said it was all cpu bound so. changing graphic setting bares no difference?
(running 7970)
what objective gives you the most points?
im on woodburn EU

light assault or heavy assualt

light assault i played at first as its sometimes hard to find where your going how how to get up to places light assualt has jet pack so lets you move around more freely

Heavy assult is all i play now, press F to activate your shield when in a fire fight = win against anything that isnt a heavy assualt as long as you have a good shot. also helps your survive better

Easiest way to rank up is to look at spawn points carefully. see if there are any sunderers inside an enemy base. spawn there help take the city / outpost then move onto next. if you do it quick enough or get lucky enough you can rank up really fast. i got to BR 3 in 10-15 mins dotting from place to place helping get there as a facility was almost captured then getting 500/1000 exp for capture.

or if you have a friend to play with get a squad together, get a vanguard and be his engineer. repair squad tank gives nice exp and you shud get lots of kills / assist and capture things as you go.

dont go soloing any points, stay with the pack and capture everything!

I really enjoy the game, despite thinking their pricing strategy sucks.

The frame rate problems so many people are getting is crazy though. I understand it's an intensive game but they really need to optimize their code as people with decent setups are getting some shockingly poor FPS.

I'm normally getting 50-60 FPS but it can often fall as low as 10-20 in really large scale battles.

One of my mates who has a slight worse setup than me is getting better FPS though. I downloaded my game off the planetside eu site as the download was 3GB's smaller than on Steam while he downloaded his from Steam.

Does anyone know why the Steam version had 3GB's of data added? There wouldn't be any chance the Steam version could give me better performance is there?

subscribed 6 months + in swuad with another subed 6 months = 100% exp boost apparantly + 3% squad boost

also i shot one of the the purples equivelants to a reaver down last night with a vanguard from massive range. me and my mate couldnt belive i hit the ****er out the sky :D

So what secondly weapons have people bought for their tanks?

I can't decide between the AT launcher, the G30 or the Vulcan Cannon. :/

Just depends on your outlook really. I always opted for the offset weakness approach. So if I have a HE cannon I go with the AT launcher so I can still do something against enemy armour, likewise if I go with the AP cannon then the vulcan will help me deal with infantry that much easier. Then theres obviously the train of thought that just go for gold within a certain role, HE+vulcan for maximum infantry ownage - AP+AT to become a tank killing machine. I'd say having the AA orientated cannon is probably something that would only have air focus you that much more tbh - which is something you don't want in the age of the rocket pod :p

Planetside 2 issues

Just installed Planetside 2 for the second time, and it's completely mashed still.

The first thing I see in game is a menu asking me to select a faction (I think), but there is no text or anything. Just an empty box next to some icons.

Secondly, in the options menu, all the labels and options have "##UI." in front of them. (E.g. ##UI.Antialiasing) and the tooltips just say "TEXT".

It also takes aaages to load, even on a RAID 0 drive array. Much longer than pretty much any game I have ever played.

I am running Windows 8.

Just purchased the Skyguard for the lightning, very underwhelming. Too much spread on the shot, hard to hit anything unless they're stupid enough to fly close.

Hmm, thanks for replying. The AA gun for the Prowler is useless, worst then the default weapon in damage and everything, the only difference is the angle it can fire.

Yeah, I would recommend you research weapons before you buy it. Could had told you that the Skyguard is crap. It's been naffed like all the other AA weapons in the game.

Honestly, recoil on a mounted weapon? Dev's need a slap.
