People driving the Whaaaaa-mbulance about not being able to play any character they want at any time, so they caved in.

But yeah, bring back in a cooldown for same server would be beneficial, but if they don't help the under-pop Factions (all servers I mean as I'm sure NC dominate on some US ones) then they'll turn into ghost servers with only the dominating faction left.

Might be a question I ask Luperza next month actually :D

Definately ask it tbh :)

I would imagine though that some degree of server 'merging' (more like upgrading to support more players) might happen if they really do add 3 more continents during next year (and presumably more beyond that) as each will have more landmass to spread people over so that may even things out slightly.

With names being unique across the whole game too theres no issue there. But I guess we need to see what the populations are like in 6 months or so time.

Not sure tbh how I think they'll be in 6 months. Admittedly they'll drop as the interest wanes & for some players they'll have been playing for nearly a year by then if you include Tech Test & Closed Beta.

Question is, by how much. Just hope they decision to release the game early (in most players opinion) doesn't harm the game as the meta-game needs beefing as well as the bugs. See what the January patch brings, hopefully not only a decent FPS fix, but also some balance tweaks etc.

I know they love the stats but hope they don't give a skewed view of what's happening within the game.

The whole NC on Miller thing is pretty lame. It's not even really any single issue you can point to, it's a bunch of small things that add up to a disadvantage with the factions like the weapons that are harder to use by design, 2/3 bad warpgate start positions, most visible at night with no camo that helps. Add to that the NC have the worst 24 hour population coverage on Miller and you're off to bad start even on a good day.

Weapons I guess will continue to get tweaked over the patches, the warpgates you enter a continent from are meant to be changing once more continents are added and will be based upon which linked continent you have conquered and I guess we may one day get a VS camo that makes us near impossible to see at night to ^^... population though, that will just either happen or it won't. If it doesn't then we're always going to be the play thing of the other two on Miller, but who knows what future game changes will bring.

Anybody notice that you have to get quite close to enemies to see them at the minute? Not played for a week or two, and gone back into it tonight for a go and I have to get up close to people to see them :( Makes sniping impossible.

Just depends on how big the fight is. The limit is 500 objects around you for rendering, it's clear right now the render is making poor choices when it comes to deciding what is relevant to you and what isn't. But it's made pretty unbearable in large fights... even when you may not think that many around, I've seen Higby streaming in what looked like a pretty average Amp Station battle, nothing too crazy, when asked he said there was 400 players in that area... and I'm pretty sure that 500 object limit includes things like turrets / c4 / mines so it doesn't go very far.

Must be something they have recently updated. Ruined the game for me, logged back off. Will have to wait until this is sorted. Was fine before.

Just been fighting at The Watch? I think its called for like 2 hours and 1/2 straight, so easy to defend and get easy kills

I am also having issues learning to pilot the aircraft in this game, if anybody has any tips or tricks they could throw my way it would be appreciated.

Also is it possible to use a 360 controller just for vehicular use?

My kid is sick so i got a minute. Air combat in PS2 sucks coming from a flight sim background, its relatively basic but can be quite fun from a kill everything point of view. Kind of somewhere inbetween il2 and world of planes. Not dead serious and kind of gamey but sometimes a blast. Anyway, my 2c.

You cant think of this as a flight sim, made it hard for me to get into. Hover makes mavity much more of a factor, instead of relying on forward momentum. They would have been better off not bothering with hover, would have made air a lot less effective against ground. Up your mouse sensitivity. Biggest tip is to assign a key to pitch up, that way when you want to do a loop or tight turn you just hit the key, dont have to go mad with your mouse. I use my mouse thumb button.

The SA for all the fighters sucks, its fiddly to look around and even then you can see a little bit of side and up, thats it. So spend a lot of time in external view for the greater field of vision except when attacking. When being attacked from behind, loop. Running is a mugs game because all the advantage is the enemies. Hes in your (massive) blindspot and youre in his killzone. Unless youre close to friendly AA or your warpgate, turn fast and try to get on his tail or its the end.

The resticted fov can work for you too, If you get behind an enemy fighter unload your guns first then fire a missile as theyre harder to hit with guns when evading and missiles dont miss. Two missile hits will bring down a vanilla fighter, two and a bit for an esf with armor so starting out with a burst always comes in useful.

You should cert into the categories you want. The top category, acquisition, decreases the wait between respawns which is useful. You must get the flares, they buy you an extra life. After that its pretty much what you fancy, although the radar, whilst nice to have, comes in a category where you need damage repair or armor. The choice of chassis again is up to you but note theyre all rubbish until the second or final tiers (100,200,450 i believe).

The fighter can have either air2air missiles or air2ground rockets and the same air/ground choice for a gun. You can mix, i use an air2air gun and rockets but obviously if you know the role youre going for choose one or the other. Buy night vision for your rockets because seeing the enemy becomes a WHOLE lot easier day or night. Get the cheap upgrades to ammo capacity (1 and 10 certs i believe) and upgrade the rest at will. Remeber you dont hit what you cant see. Render is a real pain in this game so the bigger the fight, the shorter the distance. Huge amount of maxes on the crown in a tight bunch? If you stand off and lob rockets at where you know they are it wont cause any damage unless you can SEE them too. This is a huge pain, because by the time you are close enough for the game to decide to render that max, he has been seeing you for enough time to line up and start shooting - which means youre dead.

Anyway its fun, but dont take dying too seriously, theres really not a lot you can do about it!

I seriously need some information on how to play this game, I do not have a clue in the slightest... Any guides or help from you guys would be wonderful.

It's amazing for a free game. Must be seriously good devs behind it too for the scale of the gameplay, and graphics it takes up no memory at all while not drilling my computer down to a stuttery mess!

What server/faction? could possibly hop into a game with you if you want, show you how I get about and determine where battles are to be found.

But ultimately I'd suggest getting into an outfit and just going along with them as you pick it up - they will lead you around to the action whilst you get to grips with the details.

I don't even know that mate, I literally just made my player and next thing I'm in a huge warzone running about like a loon! hahahaha. I'm going to have a watch of some YouTube vids and read some guides on it then hop back in :)

Doesn't take long to pick it up tbh, there are some really good beginner vids on the tube. Find a well organised squad, go with the flow :)

Aye I installed this on release and played for 10 minutes, but sacked it off due to the lag. Just watched a beginner video and decided to play a bit now but.... like 4 gb patch....

I hate it when games do this. Fancied a game of Total war the other day and it needed a 3 gb patch. 3 hours later I couldn't be bothered playing it
