What are the first upgrades I should be getting ? Sights and primary upgrades like foregrip?

Also which class has the anti rpg rocket?

Depends on your play style. You need to consider;

1. Do I engage at long, medium or close range - this will choose your scope. Tip: the best scope is the night vision or the reflex for close range combat. The ranged scopes depend on the gun but its prolly not worth getting the best magnification scope for any gun, other than the sniper rifles.
2. Do I prefer to use ironsights or fire from the hip? iron = foregrip, hip = lazer dot. If you are a hip firer and don't mind engaging at close range the lazer dot is a win button at the moment - its a "see your k/d triple with just a single upgrade" kinda win button. I am not joking.

After that its up to you, but soft point ammo is generally a good move unless you like to use range.

All rocket launchers are available on the Heavy Assault class. The basic one you start with a dumb fire, medium damage rocket. You can then specialise in anti vehicle or anti air (lock on or dumb fire, good damage) or a anti-V anti-A lock on (no dumb fire, medium damage). I recommend specialising - personally I have gone AV.

If you have station cash in the bank I would strongly advise choosing the right gun before you start throwing certs around.

Heres some tips:

1. Usually the "Best" gun is the one with the same stats as the starter gun, but with better fire rate. This applies to medic and engineer to some degree.
2. the engineer has one gun that can attach an underslung grenade launcher to it. This is a great for laughs but costs a lot of certs to spec it out, you only get two grenades before having to resupply and the actual gun is worse than the starter gun. One good thing is that the U/S grenades do not cost infantry points (unlike normal nades, mines, C4 etc).
3. The sniper rifles - there will be one with no stat for fire rate - this is the bolt action one shot one kill sniper rifle. Hit the head and they are dead.
4. If you are TR or NC you should have at least one class you use shotguns with. VS shotguns don't quite cut the cheese.
5. The heavy assault class starter gun is the best one for its class, except for the MCG (TR) or the Jackhammer (NC - Shotgun). The VS Lasher is a pile ****e.

It seems station cash is not so cheap for us brits...as usual, I would love to say it is just taxes, but even the lowest one at £4 is cheaper elsewhere, cant be right.

I wonder if there are any Brazillian VPNs (apparently the ingame store changes, but not the official store).

Getting real tired of this behaviour.

Should had set your currency in your account to US instead of GBP.

I started a new account when I got to BR10 to change to US so it's cheaper, if you still low level, it's not too late to change.

Are TR maxes or air units generally just terrible?

Other sides seem to take SO MANY hits, yet when I get a single AA max I get taken to half in a matter of moments in a mossy. Even if I'm with a team-mate and we wait for a reaver or scythe to get close, open up to surprise him... gets away with loads of health and I even need to reload.

One thing that annoys me about this game, I mean I do completely fine and manage to bug out but it's honestly as if they're doing more damage/and or can take more damage.

Edit: I mean just now we had 6 bursters and a skyguard and they'd take so many hits it's untrue :C

Am finding it difficult to get into again at the minute, this is probably because my outfit has dwindled massively. Got some games from steam sale to get through also, but hopefully it will become more interesting for me again soon.

yeah what happened there? Christmas wind down? One minute theres three squads every night, next minute theres one half squad? I presume youre talking about MAG on VS. Im thinking its the double XP period (for me at least much more efficient lone wolfing it for max cert gain)?

In my outfit at least, about 2/3 of people have taken a break over Christmas, I expect it will pick up again over the weekend.

This I think - first half hour on line, about 50 certs just mucking around in a lightning on esamir. Next hour, moving from undefended objective to undefended objective on Indar with my outfit, about 20 certs for the whole hour.

What the hell is it with NC and Indar? I sodding hate the place :p

killed a fully crewed liberator with AT mines last night. The muppet landed and started repairing too closee to to the action :)

How do I get a flash?

I went to the tank symbol on the map which apparently means all vehicles can be spawned but all I found was a room with a generator and some terminals but nothing to activate.

So is NC underpowered? On my server (cobalt), TR always seems to control Indar, Vanu always controls Esamir and Amerish. Even with 40% population on Amerish the NC only has the warpgate and about 3 other small control points, and it seems to almost always be the same. I mainly play on Indar and it's rare we have more than our gate side quarter. Whats the deal here?

I'm really enjoying playing as a scout rifle sniper at the moment. Need to work on my positioning though.

That's a confusing little icon, and I did the same thing at first. It's got a tank sign on it because it's the generator that powers the tank barriers at the gates to the base. You kill that gen, the barriers come down and the tanks can roll in :)

Thanks for clarifying sleepery. I guess if you are assaulting then that is one of the first places to aim for.

I have played for a few hours now. It is hard to know what to do, I have caught the tail end of 4 major assaults but have also spent 35 minutes walking in a flashing area without seeing anyone. I stick to the action now but am very poor, I have 5 kills, 9 assists and 42 deaths and no great input tactically with the light assault class.

Is there any planetside etiquette when it comes to joining squads or is it ok to join anyone so long as there is a free slot?

If the Squad is Open, then you can join it. It's up to the Squad Leader to lock it down to Outfit or Friends only. Other than that you can join it.
If you get booted from it then they're asshats & best avoided as they should have locked the Squad if they don't want randoms to join it.

As for help with playing, then looking & joining an Outfit on your server that is new player friendly will help immensely as the game is lacking on Tutorials (should change in the new year some time) and can be very daunting to beginner. It's something that should have been in from launch, but the money-men pushed its release.

Bored so heres my 2c. Join anyone, its very hit and miss and often just a bunch of people doing their own thing. The better organised ones, generally with some kind of squad tag might be ok, but if you are relying on in-game vox, theres not often a lot to be found.

Youre far better off finding the good fights. This is how i do it. First open the map and check all three continents. Find the fights happening in the major constructions, biolab is ideal, tech plant and amp station are ok. The small constructions are pointless ubecause theres very little way to tell if its 2 guys or 200 tanks. It must be bordered by an enemy faction or 90% of the time youre just looking at an attempted stealth cap which will leave you looking for somewhere else in a couple of minutes.

If the fight is near your warpgate jump in a fighter. You dont need to kill anything you just need to die in the general vicinity to start taking advantage of the local spawns. This is also useful because if its quiet you can just head over to the mext possibility. Otherwise deploy there, but as you know that can be a bit hit and miss. Hover your mouse over the fight and see if theres a capture bar on the left, which means it is changing hands. If its being captured by your side gogogo! Free certs. If its being captured by an enemy, is going quite quickly, then generally forget it, youre jumping into a zerg. If its not being captured might be worth a look.

Drop in, preferably onto a construction. Shoot anything that moves and inevitably die. Spawn at the available spawns BUT look where those are. Youre going to beed to learn the entry points. Biolabs have 2 platforms and 2 internal spawns which might be enemy. Tech plants have two vehicle doors, two small doors. amp can be anywhere so start in the middle. If youre defending, spawn at the building spawn and follow the people dying (skull and crossbones icon). If youre attacking spawn at the sunderers near platforms.

Once the fight is over you might want to hop in a tank and see where everyone else goes. Map is quite good for this, watch the general direction of the hive! Of course if you can getinto a squad with teamspeak, always useful.

Itll all be second nature in a couple of hours!
