**Official Portal 2 thread**

apparently according to the IRC chat it is how long the games are played for and not how many people are playing at once,

Also the time looks like it will go down by a set chunk once each of the games are filled up

So it seems when enough time has been spent playing one of the 13 games and the bar is filled up, the timer will reduce by an hour, two hours, five hours? Who knows...

The timer just shows the time till its normal release date afaik. The game is released when the computations bar fills up.

As you can see he was proven wrong :p

It shall all be serverside with some clever maths but ultimately under the control of Valve just in case some finds a glitch which may cause the timer to spas out etc. My guess is they are just taking it from steam stats though on how many people are player a certain game, then add it all up = 2% complete etc. Like I said before I bet it's going to be at least 24 hours and maybe 48 hours before it's done.

The funniest thing about this all?

The console versions are leaked and the PC version is not.
So the tired old argument of it only being PC gamers which are pirates really doesn't have a stand anymore, it even looks to be the console gamers which are WORSE, shock horror.

Hmm just read something that made some sense in my head but I have no idea if its right or not :p

The potatoes could mean the speed in which the bar progresses so we are currently moving 124 thousand times faster per a CPU than we should be and then the more people playing a current game the faster the bar will move. I think the bars are also different per a games taken from previous Steam stats as killing floor is probably one of the most played games per a person per an hour compared to the likes of The Wonderful End of The World which will have least time spent on it.

Basically folding @ home with a multiplier and helping gamers have fun! :D
