**Official Portal 2 thread**

Portal virgin here. Feeling like I ought to try this out at the weeknd though.

Don't let me down guys, I have high expectations now!

Complete virgin? Then make sure you play Portal first before Portal 2! Pick up the bundle - £33 for both games - bargain!

Or just beg, chances are there are still plenty of free Portal copies floating around. Would be better to play through a free copy of Portal before blowing £33 on both only to find you don't really like the style (meaning you don't like fun :D).

Okay, I wonder if anyone can help me... Last night my friend and I spent over an hour trying to play co-op, but we kept running into issues. We couldn't even load into the game. It would freeze and disconnect. We both tried opening ports and disabling our Anti-Virus and Firewalls but to no avail.

I am on Virgin with the Superhub, and he is with BT Infinity. I read that the issue could be caused by NAT settings.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue, or how to change NAT settings on the Superhub / BT HomeHub?

To confirm it is the router just add your PCs to the DMZ on the router and retry, if it works fine then it's the router(s) that need investigating.

At the moment Portal 2 only has 8.2 on MetaCritic from users ... a week or so ago it was quite a bit lower too... i think it's a great example of why you should never take notice of user reviews, especially on that site. It's a fact that 1/3 people are mentally retarded, the proof is literally everywhere in daily life.

You get things like "The game is good, but not groundbreaking in any way" only for the idiot to still rate it 0.

It's the best game of the year so far. Can see it getting GOTY awards. But theres good stuff coming later this year like Skyrim so it wont so clear cut by the time this year is over.

Considering how often professional reviewers make mistakes and get it completely wrong I don't even read user reviews anymore - anyone can post anything - and they could be making it up, like this post for example.

Thats been a bit generous isn't it? Given that more often than not its not the reviewers making mistakes its them deliberately talking up a poor game for fear of reprisal.

Or rather, talking up a crap game due to the large wad of money sitting on their desk. I tend to stick with reviewers whos' opinions I agree with such as RPS.

For example, their review of Portal 2 seems to be just right, picking on it for pandering to the masses by being quite easy yet praising it for just about everything else.

Fair enough, the difficulty didn't bother me tbh. A few had me stumped but mostly it was down to me being blind/stupid. Coop was where the really interesting/difficult puzzles were and hopefully they'll include challenges later.

Not sure how the difficulty is 'pandering to the masses'. It is about the same level as Portal 1. Only the non-story extra advanced chambers and challenges increase the difficulty for the more hardcore players. Hopefully we'll get all that for Portal 2 as well.

Had an awesome go on coop with a random. There was lots of "look here" spamming as I tried to figure out the coop controls. I thought the Q gestures were how you communicated at first so was waving and dancing away while my poor partner was trying to help me lol. It's really staisfying when you get past a tricky one and you've both contributed to part of the puzzle.

Does anyone know if the rumours of being able to play this co-op with PS3 users was true? I've got a friend with a PS3 and it would be cool to play it with him.
