Official Rampage Extreme Review/Overclock/Guide Thread

Got a email from the shop and mine is posted :)
Think i`ll run the air cooler on the n/b till i can sort out a waterblock, need one that will fit 1/2" barbs.

Also the cell shock ram in my sig what bios will be ok for me to use?

There seems to be a huge difference in the BIOS's at the moment, I cannot get 1600Mhz Gskills to even post at 1600Mhz with 0403 , But i'm nearly passing memtest at 1800Mhz with 0404 at the moment using the same settings. I'd flash 0403 to one BIOS chip and 0404 to the other and see which works best.

can you tell me what is highest fsb you have got on 403 ive put 404 on and with a few tweaks managed 8 more stable on the fsb trying to break the 500 barrier getting there thanks

With 0403 i could break 520 FSB with a q9650 didnt try much higher as i didnt want to corrupt my raid array, The board needed a lot of NB volts to get over 500 FSB tho.

Some shots of my board setup for air cooling, I'm hopeing EK will make a special block that will cool the northbridge and the extra stuff around it :D

:D I am in total agreement with you Smirnoff m8. I am going to order a Mips NB block, including a KTC block as i have wanted to test one out for some time.

Edit: Is there a release date for the swift tech NB block as of yet?

Swiftech rep was saying around 3 to 4 weeks. Are Mips doing a specal block or is it a standard NB block ?

The ram and the CPU will work well togther, I'd be aiming for 450x8.5 which will give you 1800Mhz on the ram and jus over 3.8Ghz on the CPU, That about your safe limit on air.

:D

Smirnoff m8, How goes the Gskills? Do you have any more benchies of those evil blue sticks?

Waiting in the cellshock blues at the moment, I've tested the 2gb and 4gb Gskills kits and they work well, As for overing clocking they'll do about 1750Mhz tops on the sets i tested @ 7 7 7 18, There good sticks for the money but if you looking for massive overclocks it has to be the cellshocks :)
