So the Championship kicks off ths Saturday with the Premiership the following week. No major international tournaments next summer but plenty of qualifiers. Still a lot of wheeling and dealing to be done before the transfer deadline in all divisions and all ends of the table. The Championship looks an intriguing division this year and will be as difficult to stay in as it will be to gain promotion.

As for the Premier League, I don't think teams below the top four, bar Spurs, have strengthened sufficiently to break into that top four. Spurs have done a lot of strengthening but it will take time for them all to gel together.

Here's my predictions for this coming season.

Your Team's Predictions I think United will do alright again this season and I predict we will retain the Premier League. Our two immediate problems are who is going to be the number 2 and will we get another forward. In most departments we have some good strength in depth with a good mix of age and experience. The biggest problem for me is getting in a number 2 who can gain the respect of the foreign players like Quieroz did and ensure we remain tactically dilligent as we have done over the past few seasons.

Tough one but I think that it maybe heading back to Italy with Inter or Juve taking it this year. Both look very strong defensively. Although they wont score lots they will be hard to break down.

Suprise Package of the season and team to avoid relegation on the last day

Middlesboro and Newcastle respectively

Your team's predictions

Given the way that Swansea 'ran away with' the league last year, finishing one point ahead of what we should have had, I don't think we'll have much trouble getting automatic promotion. There's always one or two surprises, I just hope that one of them isn't Leeds. We've got the most firepower and should have the meanest defence too.

Surprise package of the season

Hull, in eclipsing how dire Derby were last season and vying all season with Stoke for bottom spot.

Birmingham (winners)
QPR (runner-up)

Charlton (playoffs)

Your Team's Predictions Once everyone is fit I think we'll be quite strong. Obviously like to see us buy Berbatov but its not looking likely so it seems Rooney will have another season of being played out of position which won't help. Hopefully we'll get off to a better start than last season.

My team's predictions

We'll struggle this year. Our squad is wafer thin as it is and O'Neill just won't spend money on quality players. If we have a good UEFA cup run then we'll struggle even more.

Early UEFA exit: 8th
Good UEFA run: 9th/10th

Possibly Real Madrid

Surprise package of the season

I don't expect any surprises at the very top or bottom, but I think Sunderland can have a good season and squeak into the top 10.

Team to avoid relegation on the last day

Bolton

Championship

Sheff Utd
Birmingham
QPR to go up via play-offs

Relegation:

Doncaster
Blackpool
Burnley

Your Team's Prediction:

Pretty much all of the squad are looking very sharp in pre-season and one or two of the youngsters are really blossoming. Would like to see an experienced, solid CM come in to partner Cesc but seems unlikely. Top 3 is very realistic and serious contendors if Arsene finds this experienced CM.

Your Team's Predictions We'll be fine this year, I would like 1 more striker at least, but with what we have we will do well and we have some very promising kids. Having Ronaldo will keep confidence within the side, I just hope he can recover from the ankle surgery, some players are never the same after surgery, even minor surgery.

I am worried about the start of the season as half of our first XI are out injured.

I think it's going to be the same old Man United story, bad start to the season and then after Christmas clamber back to a respectable posistion and as always never rule out stealing the win.

It's still had to say. There's a few transfers brewing that could make all the difference.

Your Team's Prediction:

I have great faith in Ramos and I expect a top six finish and at least one cup semi-final. Keane and Berbatov will be missed but the players who have been added all look quality. Bale coming back from injury is like a whole new signing too.

I could even see us in the top 4 at Christmas. In the long run, our squad has no cover of any real quality (especially at CB and CF position) and so won't be able to maintain form over the whole season. We also know from Ramos' time in Spain that he's willing to rest players for league games if there's a big cup game coming up. That could hurt our league form.

We need to get a number 2 as soon as possible if not get Rene up to the first team squad, we still need a striker but i don't think it will be the end of the world if we start with what we have, if Saha goes we will have A.N.Other to replace him anyway

Here's my predictions for this coming season.

Your Team's Predictions I think we will win the CL again for some reason and do dire in the league and still finish second :/
