****Official SFL (diddy) League 2012 - 13****

I have a feeling Rangers might not get promoted this season. I don't think they are prepared properly for Division 3 and it might take them until Christmas to properly get to grips with it.

As funny as that would be, "The Rangers" as they are now known are certain to get promoted this season. I would expect them to win every game at home though which will more or less get them promoted

Aye, the only full time team in the league which has a host of international footballers in the squad and a budget which dwarfs most SPL sides, let alone division 3 teams will struggle for promotion!

My local side Alloa Athletic won the 3rd division easily last season. Alloa had an average attendance of just over 670 (highest in that division, skewed by a last day trophy presentation crowd of over 2,500 which is around 5 times their average). As it stands, prior to the public sale, Rangers have sold 25,000 season tickets, with a final figure expected to be around 30,000. So lets say Rangers home average attendance is 35,000 (they pulled in ~40,000 at Ibrox last Tuesday for a 1st round league cup clash with East Fife), that would then, with ticket sales alone, give Rangers a budget in excess of 50 times that of the side which won the 3rd division title last season by 14 points. That isn't even taking into account sponsorship and merchandising sales which will probably result in Rangers having a budget close to 100 times that of anyone else in the division and you don't think they will gain promotion??? Can I get the details of what your doctor prescribes you.

And as far as "The Rangers" as they are now known - The company has always been called The Rangers Football Club Ltd (the name replacing Sevco5088 as ratified on July 31st.) The club is now, as it has always been known as Rangers.

We have always been The Rangers shortened to Rangers by the media. I'll try and find the photo of a game vrs Real Madrid where our full name was used.

to get away from the non footy nonsense, anyone else on here at the game at Hampden last night?

9 goal thrillers are what the cup is all about :)

have to say from what I've seen so far this season I have to fancy Thistle to go up this year

Not sure what you want me to try harder with. Besides, im lazy, so trying harder is not in my nature.

I'll happily allow you and others to correct me each and every time I refer to "The Rangers" as "The Rangers" :)

Anyways, enjoy your game tomorrow...apparently The Rangers will break a world record tomorrow for biggest crowd at a 4th tier game. Congrats on that....;)

After last week's one nil win against Albion Rovers (should have been more) Brechin travel down to Stenhousemuir for the second time in two weeks. We'll be looking for a more favourable scoreline than the 4 - 0 drubbing in the cup though. Still down to a bare bones team (yes start of the season and we've just got enough fit players!) looking for a much improved performance than that from a fortnight ago. Not filled with too much confidence over this one with Stenny getting a decent win midweek in the cup and a draw last weekend. Mon the hedgehunters! :D

Rangers 5 - 1 East Stirling. Much better result than last week. Top of the league all be it on goal difference.

Good result for Thistle beating Dunfermline 1-0

cracking result for the Jags,

beating 2 of the tips for the title in the last week.

The Giant Killers claim another scalp to continue their march towards silverware :D

Just a shame the normal Falkirk announcer wasnt there to announce the final score :D :D :D

Aye poor announcer, only having a wee laugh and nearly causing a riot :p
Some people are easily offended !;)

I feel sorry for him. Imagine having to watch Falkirk all the time :p

You HAVE been watching the anti-football that Rangers have been playing for, it seems, an eternity.

Falkirk have been a breath of fresh air in comparison. They always play an attacking game, in their league.

I hope now, that Rangers are in a league of minnows where their entire squad is worth one Rangers player that they will start to play some stylish, attractive football although, I must confess, I haven't bothered to look.

Week 3 Fixtures

Division 1

15:00 Cowdenbeath v Hamilton Academical Central Park
15:00 Greenock Morton v Falkirk Cappielow Park
15:00 Partick Thistle v Dumbarton Firhill Stadium
15:00 Raith Rovers v Livingston Stark's Park
15:00 Airdrie United v Dunfermline Athletic Excelsior Stadium

Division 2
15:00 Alloa Athletic v Arbroath Recreation Park
15:00 Ayr United v Forfar Athletic Somerset Park
15:00 Brechin City v East Fife Glebe Park
15:00 Queen of the South v Albion Rovers Palmerston Park
15:00 Stranraer v Stenhousemuir Stair Park

Division 3
15:00 East Stirlingshire v Elgin City Ochilview Park
15:00 Montrose v Annan Athletic Links Park Stadium
15:00 Peterhead v Queen's Park Balmoor Stadium
15:00 Stirling Albion v Clyde Forthbank Stadium
12:00 Berwick Rangers v Rangers Shielfield Park (Sunday)

Brechin will be looking to build on a better performance than last week's 3 - 1 defeat at Stenhousemuir (2 ridiculous pile driver of free kicks deciding the game!) but a growing injury list for the Glebe Park men will be a definite disadvantage. The visit of East Fife welcomes back former City Players Darren Smith, David White and of course Paul 'Shagger' McManus, city's top striker last season. East Fife will be without Gordon Durie in the dugout after he collapsed last week after their match so Gordon Chisholm will be in charge.

I would hazard a guess at a score draw but hope Brechin can sneak a win.

Game today for Thistle we should win by a couple of goals after a good start to the season so knowing our usual run it's going to be a close defeat to bring us back down to normal? :o
