****Official SFL (diddy) League 2012 - 13****

Broadband will be up next week so that's why I've not posted the usual fixtures this week. I'll be leaving shortly to get the supporters bus to Ayr. Neither team has started well this season so both will be eager for a win. Speaking to some brechin fans they're hoping we lose so we can put pressure on the committee to get rid of the manager as 6points from 6games isn't good enough. Weve strengthened the team with a couple of short term emergency loans as our injury list is almost as big as our squad list. It's either going to be a nil nil draw or a goalfest with both sides having defences like sieves.

And Rangers have imploded again. Well done Stirling Albion and good on you for making your 9th place position in the league look completely false.

Stirling are truly a terrible team! But then again rangers can't play away from home. Think ally could be looking for a new job soon!
Brechin played well today but defensive errors flattered Arbroath in a 3 1 loss. In the next week or so brechin will be looking to install a new manager to replace Jim weir. Various names being mooted so far. Gary bollan, grant Johnstone and ray McKinnon all attended today's game. Jimmy calderwood apparently seen at the glebe on Monday. Alan Maitland, Gus McPherson and Brian Reid also mentioned. We'll see how the committee decides things soon enough.

Gary bollan is most fans top choice. Did well with Livingstone albeit a full time team winning 3rd then 2nd divisions back to back. Ex city player grant Johnstone would be next choice. I would think calderwood is an outside chance although I think his wage demands would be too high. I don't think any fans want Gus McPherson or Brian Reid though. The other two are just making up the numbers as well.

Dont waste yer time with them. Still obsessed with us.

still obsessed? This is the diddy league discussion thread, rangers are part of the diddy leagues and a perfectly legitimate talking point is that of a surprise result when a highly paid full time team half filled with international players is beaten by a part time team with no money (run by its supporters trust if i remember correctly).

Before you wade in with your 'obsessed' nonsense look back at your posts when you gloriously announce taking a second division 'scalp' in the cup......

EDIT

As with anything in football, the appointment of a new manager is based on their history or otherwise (Michael O Neil managed us (first appointment) after being assistant at Cowdenbeath, look at him now!)
With Ray McKinnon he has a good pedigree playing in Scotland and in the leagues of England, as a manager he did well with Lochee Utd (Junior team) before joining the SFA in a technical development officers role. Through this he will have good contacts within the game, and best of all he understands what it means to manage a community based club. This will hopefully mean that more of the locals will turn out to see their local team. Quite optimistic about the appointment and with a run of three home games coming up for Brechin, it would be an ideal start to his managerial career with us if we can get a wee run put together to give the squad a boost in confidence.

Looking forward to tomorrows game with a degree of optimism after the installation of Ray McKinnon as Brechin manager. His experience with the technical development side of things for coaches going through their badges will no doubt put him in good stead in relation to man management / footballers diets / training etc rather than the old school my way or the high way shouting matches from the management that we've had over the past couple of years from Jim Weir. Reports from the training ground are positive with the players seemingly applying themselves more as well as getting the training they require.....talk of an hours training under the previous manager led to a lack of fitness with certain players. Equally Stranraer, sitting bottom of the division currently will be looking to get themselves off the foot of the table with an away win. Hopefully they leave Glebe Park without a win though! :D

Well its been a while where i can be happy on a Sunday after sorting out the photos from the previous day's match. But today is a good day :D First time in a while I've seen a solid Brechin performance throughout a whole match. Ray McKinnon, Grant Johnson and Darren Taylor have got the team working again. A great deal of fight in the team, working for each other and most noticeable of all is the communication with both the players and from the management. Despite Stranraers bottom of the table position they played well in spells and were quick to counter at times causing a few problems for our defence but we now throw bodies behind the ball were as we didn't before.

After a dump of snow last night and a frosty start to the day Brechin is thawing out well in time for this afternoons match against Stenhousemuir. We're looking to improve on the two away losses to Stenny in the cup and league so far 3 - 1 and 4 - 0. A much improved Brechin side last week with the new manager at the helm looking to build on that performance. A couple of guys have recovered from knocks so pretty much a full squad to choose from. We have however lost Alan Smith as he has returned to Dumfermline from his loan and reserve keeper Ben Tough has been loaned out to a perthshire junior team. Stenny do have quality in their team and with two of the leagues top strikers John Gemmill (Stenny) and Andy Jackson (Brechin) battling it out today it will be a day for the defences to be called upon. I would settle for the draw but obviously going for a home win :D

Well when the day started I would have settled for a draw but instead I'll settle for Brechin 7 (seven) Stenhousemuir 2 :D :D

EDIT

Match photos now up in my siggy of clickiness :p

Think the Keeper had it down to lose 7 goals. OMG.

Normally Callum Reidford is in goal for Stenny. Not sure if he was injured or dropped (on the bench) for Saturdays match but good god his stnad in Robbie Thomson was terrible. Saying that Craig Nelson in the Brechin goal wasnt much better in the handling stakes!

Well ive let this topic slide the past few weeks but after a derby win against forfar its time for a bit of a revival. Since taking charge of brechin ray McKinnon has turned the club around completely. He's getting the best out of the players who have now scored 24 goals and conceded 7 since the change in management taking city from 3rd bottom in the second division to 3rd. Long may it continue! Tricky game in the cup next week though against st mirren.

think this weeks fixtures will be scattered with pitch inspections and call offs. Theres a pitch inspection today at 3pm at the Glebe for the weekends match against Ayr United. Its the first test the new covers have taken so hopefully they'll have worked and the game goes ahead.

EDIT

Game off at the Glebe :(

Congratulations to brechin manager Ray McKinnon in picking up the manager of the month trophy for November :D taking brechin on an unbeaten run in the league and jumping from 8th to 3rd in the league. Easy fixture on Saturday against the table toppers away to queen of the south!

one nil loss for Brechin against run away leaders Queen of the South yesterday. Supporters bus was cancelled due to lack of numbers so I popped down on the team bus. about 7 other fans traveled in cars but not too much to shout about. pretty even game and a good sign of how the team is now competing over the 90 mins under mckinnon compared to under weir.
