Full fixture list in the SFL today and after another win down at middle earth......I mean stranraer Brechin are faced with the second derby fixture, this time against Forfar, in two weeks. The last time the two teams met, Brechin won comfortably 4 - 1 whilst the reverse fixture Forfar won one nil but the official of that day has since retired after failing to do anything for about 8 major incidents during the match, the majority which went against Brechin. Brechin will be missing influential players Alan Trouten after tweaking his groin down at Stranraer and Kurtis Byrne as his loan spell has ended and after being released by Ross County is going back home to Ireland to ply his trade there.
An aging Forfar side could be undone with the speed and skill of Brechin under manager Ray McKinnon with goals coming from several outlets rather than just Andy Jackson. Its a dull wet day today but the prospect of a Derby match always makes it that bit special.

Another cheeky win for the Hedgehunters scoring another four on the way and climbing up to third in the league. A forgettable first half with no real major chances for eitherside. A kick up the backside for the second half and some good flowing football and more importantly better attacking play that we've grown accustomed to under McKinnon. Two goals from midfield and two from our strikers (one scoring his first of the season). So its a happy day in Brechin today. The weekend will be a sterner test as we'll be up against an in form Alloa side sitting on place ahead of us in second.

Well the afternoons match has come and gone again. A heavy pitch at the glebe but Brechin win the tie against second place Alloa 3 - 2 although it should have been 4 - 2 but the ref awarded a free kick for an alleged foul on the keeper which was nonsense! Another win though and thats all that matters. Five points behind Alloa but with a game in hand.

BRECHIN CITY

Derek Watt, supporters club secretary, said: “Brechin fans I’ve spoken to think it’s self-serving from the few and to heck with rest by throwing them into a bottom league of 18. One positive is at least we’re back to having one league body. Hopefully that will make it easier to change if, or more likely when, the new format doesn’t work.”

Not a fan of the proposed changes then Derek? :p

:D

Had a 15min chat with the 'reporter' on the phone discussing the reconstruction and implecations then he printed whatever he felt like. To be fair if I was as lazy as that guy was at his job id be sacked within a week but journalism is one of those careers where you can produce crap and get a promotion!

Two weeks running games being cancelled for me due to inclement weather! Glebe park covered in 9 inches of snow so not really much hope for a match. Ah well, time to finish off the Supporters Club new shop website thing instead :D

time for a mini revival of this topic with the continuing postponements of Brechin matches and Rangers inability for its overpaid stars to perform at lower levels neither myself or McMav have posted much here recently, the other posters who occasionally reply must have a 'big' team in the SPL as well ;)

Forgot about this again this week.....probably because we had the shock of actually playing this week!

First game in 5 weeks against local rivals and play off contenders Arbroath. The first half was just terrible. no penetration loose balls and a team that didn't look like they knew how to play football.........but Brechin weren't much better either! :p

Second half was a bit livelier with chances at both ends but Brechin got the decisive goal 3 minutes from time with a lovely lob over former City keeper Scott Morrison. Happy with the 3 points and gives us a gap of 3 points over Arbroath with 3 games in hand and now only 10 points behind Alloa with 4 games in hand over them! Midweek madness begins (possibly) on Tuesday if the Glebe has dried out for 5 weeks of two games a week. Its going to be tough as the players have their daytime jobs, traveling then a match to contend with so hopefully we can keep the promotion push going.

Match photos in my sig :)

Two games in 4 days and another 3 points for the Brechin City boys :D tricky conditions tonight with a very heavy pitch which has cut up quite badly and contributed from less than silky football from both sides. Fairly scrappy affair but two goals from central defender playing as right back, Gerry McLachlan, gave Brechin the deserved 3 points. Ayr had more possession but Brechin had more clean cut chances. Happy days once again :D

Glebe Park took some punishment on Tuesday nights victory over Ayr so theres not going to be a show of slick passing football :D

well yesterday went well. In the pub watching the footy before wandering up to the Glebe only for one of the guys to get a call saying the match had been called off at 2pm! All the East Fife fans had a wasted journey along with some of the traveling Brechin Support. Disappointing all round.

Couldn't get off work to see another city win on the road.

Think this topic can be locked seeing as its turned into me posting regularly. If it ain't epl or spl it ain't worth posting about.
