*** Official SONOS Thread ***

My questions are:

1. I have no Sonos kit so do I need anything else besides the Sonon 1 Bundle?
2. We stream mostly from Spotify or my own collection on the PC. Do I need any extra kit?
3. Just how good are they? I'm quite picky when it comes to sound..

1. No.

2. Sonos Play requires a Spotify Premium account

3. Very.

Oh Hai Mr Pedant.

Average price for the Play:5 in November (according to a price tracking website) was £525

Average price for the Play:1 in November (according to a price tracking website) was £170.

I was genuinely interested.

Also, given the new Play 5 is the most expensive one yet (at £429) I'm a bit confused that the average price would be much more than that. I assume you mean £425?

Did you have an old Play 5? I've just got the new one and interested as to how much better than the old one it is.

I can read a website, Basher.

Why would Sonos send out old kit in a beta test when they are testing the new kit they want to sell?

Out of interest, does the Play:5 packaging have any holes in the the top to allow airflow in order to make it easier to remove the lid?

I've checked several price tracking websites and the maximum is 430. Why on earth would the average price be over £100 more than the RRP!?

I was asking if you already had a play 5, before Sonos sent you the new one :)

Nope, no holes in the top.

The tracking website I used is named after a piece of farming machinery.
I'm not sure if I will get ban hammered for posting a link to it.

The only gripe I have about the Play:5 kit is the vacuum created when trying to open the box.
I secretly hoped to have a weak claim to fame.

I had a demo locally and found my normal hifi much higher quality sound than sonos. I guess I can lose the features and keep the quality sound.

It's easy enough to integrate an existing hifi or speakers into a Sonos system. We've got ceiling speakers in three rooms powered by Sonos amps.

Pretty expensive, though.

TBH, if I had speakers already I'd be using something like Gramafon. Sonos works well for me because I don't already have speakers.

For those who may be coming off the back of last years free Deezer subscription when they purchased a sonos, I've just renewed mine for £25 for 12 months!!

Make sure your logged out of deezer first, click the link and it should take you straight to the £25 annual payment page, if not check your offers page.

So mine was due for renewal on 3rd Jan and when you do above offer it renews from now so I've lost 15 days or so but still a total bargain at circa £2 a month.

Yeah, that's got to be my biggest gripe with Sonos - the connect (non amp version) is far too expensive for what it is.

If the single Play:1 can be sold for £150 (as part of the bundle) then the connect should be less than that.

It's a shame, because if the connect was £80, I'm sure even the audiophiles with their own gear would be snapping them up for every room - I know I would have.

But at £280 it's taking the mick.

Darn, just renewed on an offer of £50 a year :(

Hmmm I bought my Mrs a pair of these for xmas. I think I have to return them. We have just gone on infinity and the wireless drops on devices on the Homehub 5 loads of times. So it's really not going to be worth us having these until I can find a fix like every other HH5 user :(
