Reaaaaaally tempted by this. Just how much better does it make the soundbar?

Haven't got it yet, should arrive tomorrow I hope!
To be fair, the Playbar and Play 1's have quite a nice bass to them anyway but I still miss having a sub!

All of what the post above says!!

I'm about to buy my 1st Sonos speakers, a play 1 kit for our kitchen, mainly for my wife. I have just noticed the new Bose touch series 3 range which seem to have a nice feature that they have 6 preset buttons on the speaker. So these can be preprogrammed to play an album, or internet station or play list etc without needed to open up an app. This seems very useful? Do you need to open app to play the sonos?

Also I see Bose have partnered with Sonos so you can use their app too on the new range.

Anyone know much about these? 2 x touch 10's are same price as play 1 kit.

Everything works splendidly with my server too and the only thing im missing is a Spotify/Deezer account - anyone know which are generally the better ones to go for these days?

can't fault deezer for last 12 months I've had it.

Have a look around - there are usually 3 months free/99p trials etc. Also I know if you got a "three" sim card (free) you could activate deezer for free for 3 months etc - check hotdealsuk etc

If the Sonos was playing something previously, like a playlist, album or radio station you can just hit the play button and it will resume. Otherwise you need to use the app to pick what you want.

Unsure of the support on Bose for the various music services. Sonos seem to have almost everything covered.

They definitely have spotify & deezer but the tie up with sonos probably means they will have everything else too?

Yes - directly from any device by Airplay or Bluetooth but as I mentioned above I have had problems with mine since I bought it that Bose couldn't fix so I may switch to Sonos.

Been thinking about investing in a Playbar but I have a reasonably small TV (32" - gassssppp!) which only just fits into my chimney breast alcove unit on an angle so thinking a Playbar might be too wide to get in there (will need to measure to make sure).

I did have an idea though but not sure if it will work about standing it up vertically behind the TV in the corner but wasn't sure if this was recommend or not?

The speakers inside it are at an angle, so might not work too well unless you also twist the playbar to compensate. Plus you'd lose any left and right channel effects. Then again might sound just fine.

That's not what he's asking/saying.

Part of the cost with a Sonos is that it isn't just an airplay or bluetooth target and speaker. Each Sonos speaker is a full Sonos system AND a speaker.

When you choose a track on your Spotify playlist with Sonos, once you've started you can turn off that phone and it will continue to play because the Sonos speaker itself is the Sonos system - the phone is just a controller.

Saying it works "like airplay / blueooth" is the complete opposite of how Sonos works and is part of the reason why it's such a great product.

P.S. I'm not saying that the new WiFi Bose Soundtouch doens't work like Sonos, I've no idea how it works - I'm just saying Sonos isn't like Airplay or Bluetooth.

Another Sonos fan here with most of the house covered.

I must admit I haven't looked for a while but I wonder what people are using for podcasts?

I currently download podcasts on my 24/7 NUC which shares them on my network, it works reasonably well but does anyone have any better solutions?

Got myself a Play 3 today. Very impressed indeed. Much louder than I thought it would be and it keeps really good sound quality even at extreme volumes.

An absolute cinch to set up as well. The app is really good. I think I actually prefer spotify on sonos than the spotify app.

I love my Play:1, I've had some issues where it has lost the connection and then has required a full reset, but im wondering if I put the bridge back into my network whether that will help with issues like that. I'm hoping the S.O. has found all the hints about a Play:3/5 for Christmas. I know when I finally have a house not a flat I'll be looking into another two Play:1's and a playbar and sub for the TV.

Love sonos always works so brilliantly!

Tempted by a play 1 starter kit as well, currently have a zeppelin air, not sure how it would compare but I certainly feel like a mug for spending £500 on it some 3 years ago, it's good but not £500 good!:o

Not sure about SQ but the expandability is worth it and the ease of control using the app is fantastic. Much better than AirPlay systems IMO.

Only thing I am not sure about is that its always got to be on. I don't know how much electric that would end up using.

Thanks. Will have to give it a think in the new year.

Looking around, i've seen the Panasonic ALL system as well. Very similar to what the Sonos does but using Qualcomm tech, its a bit cheaper but has anyone had experiences with it compared to Sonos?
