***Official Squad Thread***

The issue we are having with AMD CPUs is 100% sound related. The AMD CPU can't process the sounds well so it bottlenecks whenever that specific items executes. We have narrowed down the main culprits to AMD FX 7500, 8320, and 8350 series.

Epic are due to a full audio system rewrite/refactor "soon" apparently which should hopefully fix this issue.

I don't think that's correct. I have had buddies who have intel CPU and AMD GPU and despite removing the audio files per the workaround they still get stuttering.

I been playing Squad before it even came too steam running at 1440p with a single 290 and i7 3770k I get zero stuttering!

do you think I will be ok playing it?

There's only one way to find out 100% unfortunately. If you buy it remember you can refund it no questions asked on Steam if your play time is less than 2 hours.

Give it a shot and if you're one of the ones with the stuttering then try the fixes on the official forums (which I can post here if you like) and see how it goes. Just remember that 2 hour window on Steam.

It's really great to see this detailed info about the development progress. I know a lot of people have criticised devs for other games when things haven't appeared in updates when planned, and I think explanations like these make you appreciate the complexity of getting what seems like small things to work properly, and makes waiting much more bearable. It would be nice if other devs did the same!

Is the patch having problems this month? Hopefully brings new content :) hopefully a new map or 2 :) fingers crossed :) need more now

Damn, just ordered on steam and came here all excited :(

Fingers crossed I'll be a lucky one

Fear not, all played fairly well, although struggling for FPS a little which was a surprise. Played three games I think, first two with no clue what was happening, then got a bit better on the third and had a great squad. I'm hooked.

Good to hear! Have you tried any of the possible fixes on the official forums to improve your performance?

Registered on the forum this morning and have been reading the target acquisition thread which has a good post on graphics settings. Will have a fiddle with those later and see if I can bump the FPS up a bit. Was down to 25-30 at times on an overclocked 390X
