Guys, sorry if I'm covering old ground here, but noticed tonight that I'm getting 30-40% usage on GPU and CPU so frame rates around 30fps - any idea what's holding me back or where to look?

AMD CPUs currently have some major issues processing audio. We're waiting for Epic to rewrite/refactor their audio system.

Ok so you think it's the CPU bottlenecking then?

Anything I can do in the meantime to help?

Any particular things you're having issues with like performance drops when people using voip/explosions happening or just poor performance all the time?

It's pretty poor most of the time to be honest. It does drop to 10fps quickly on occasions, but I haven't noted what's happening at the time. Will try and pay more attention next time

Nice. Does this patch include the moving grass, trees and bushes when you walk into them that was detailed a few pages back?

I'll be happy if the new map / loadout screen fixes the bug where you press m or return and the screen opens then shoots off and closes immediately again

Nope. Many of the items covered on the previous page were stuff to get us excited but not released in this patch. The next major item everyone is really waiting for are vehicles. There was an interesting post by RoyAwesome last week about how much of a pain in the arse it has been to get vehicles working given the standard unreal code is not fit for purpose. Out of all of the changes I think I am most excited about the jumping and updates to the map for medics.

hope epic sort it out soonish lol I really want this game but cant be bothered to buy it then have to ask for refund if it dosnt work for me,i tried the new unreal tournament beta and that ran fine for me though with good smooth frames, its a annoying and strange problem :)

Loving this game so far. Had some great rounds tonight. Just wish I didn't have the AMD problem. Was ok in a 40 man game but any more and the frame rates would plumet during action.

Frustrating to think that I might have to consider a new CPU and mobo to keep playing when I've literally just finished my water loop :(

Hang in there man, Intel CPU isn't the answer even with powerful CPUs frame rates can drop. Atm the game is still in development and they working on improving the animation system.

I thought this was an AMD specific problem? I've got an 8320 at 4.6ghz and a 390x that is peaking at 35% use during play, graphics settings down to low/med and I'm getting 30fps with drops to single digits when lots kicking off. That can't be just a lack of optimisation?

nice patch :)

now will there be content in next patch @ xcept1 ?????????????????

cheers m8y rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :)

Nope everyone is effected it's just that the performance hit is worst on AMD CPU's.

Ok well that's sort of good to know. Was just chatting on the forum over there and it seems it will always be a CPU intensive game, so still thinking of biting the bullet and switching to a Skylake i5 anyway tbh.

Regardless, loving the game and can't wait to watch the progress.

i5 be a nice upgrade tbh

How the game works with its animation system is its sending all players information to you even if they not in line of sight. 72 players all sending what they doing all the time is a lot for a CPU to work.

They changing this so it will be less demanding, keep a look out in the change logs for anything to do with animation like this.
Further optimisation passes on weapon and player animation code
