*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Not sure if you've already done this but reinstall dx 9, apparently there are some files in there that aren't in dx 11 that improve performance. Also right click the .exe and launcher go into properties and set to run in XP service pack 3 mode.

I can't swear these will make much difference but a lot of people reported significant increases after doing them. If you still have a problem I'd personally reinstall windows, I'm going to guess that something that's happened over the life span of your pc has caused a slowdown somewhere, I did this on my old pc and i did get an increase so it's worth a bash especially if you have a SSD, took me like 7 minutes to install windows.

I'm going to wait for 1.3 tomorrow. If response is good, I'm going to resub on Wednesday when I'm off work. I have always wanted to go back to SWTOR and I miss it, but it was so incredibly boring with nothing new to do like WoW!

My only Level 50 character is a Juggernaut and the group finder tool will definitely make grouping more fun. There's a lot of dungeons I haven't done yet inbetween Black Talon and the Level 50 ones, because I just give up trying to find a group for them.

My understanding is if you call them up they can change your authenticator there and then but I've not done this myself.

It's a bit scary how much I know about the workings of this game from reading various forums for months!

I've seen people asking about the performance problems, I know that when I downloaded the client versus installing and patching from the DVDs the performance was much better on the downloaded client. I didn't believe the rumours at first until I tried it for myself, it stopped the jittery effect you get when you enter large areas and the interface lag too.

Kicked off the server!!11!!1 Day off work cant play!1!1!1 REFUND!!!

1.3 Incoming :) Well at last the game has most of the Features it should have had at the Start after Today

So this new game engine, is it radically different? What does it aim to improve exactly?

It's not a new engine; but they have done a fair few performance tweaks - I found the PTS to run a lot smoother and more fluid then current retail client - some new animations too... finally the Smuggler knockback is synced up! :)

The biggest changes are:

Group Finder
Augment Tables
Ranked Warzones
Adaptive Armour (Social Armour will scale to Medium/Heavy)
New Legacy Perks (Per Character - improved XP Gains, Affection etc)
Some new schematics

Some info here: http://dulfy.net/2012/06/06/consolidated-patch-1-3-info/

Also - you will get a mission at the PvP Terminal with a badge choice - one will give you FULL Recruit PvP Gear - the other will be tradeable to a vendor for 320,000 in case you already spent out on full recruit gear... so for some people - FREE MONIES!

Ack. Its like your speaking another language :D

Group Finder - This for Warzones/Flashpoints/Heroics?
Augment Tables - Sorry do please explain whats this about?
Ranked Warzones - Ranked? As in by level?
Adaptive Armour (Social Armour will scale to Medium/Heavy) - What the hell is social armour?! And adaptirve armour for that matter? And what do you mean by scaling?
New Legacy Perks (Per Character - improved XP Gains, Affection etc) - This I get :D
Some new schematics - Ooh but... um... the materials you get for skills at level 6 are not that varied, what do they intend to achieve by adding new schematics?

20 questions complete :)

Group finder is for flashpoints and plant heroic quests.

Augment slots can now be added to all gear via the augment table, this allows you to improve your gear slightly. Previously augment slots were only available via a critical success when crafting, this method allows you to wear whatever armour you prefer without losing the augment addition.

Adaptive armour allows you to wear social armour (which was previously classifed as light armour) and it will adapt to which ever armour type you wear. For example if I buy the slave girl social outfit and a juggernaught it will become heavy armour and fully modable. I can now raid / pvp with BIS gear and still wear my sexy sexy slave outfit - or any social armour.

The new schematics are there so the craft happy players are able to produce new items to sell. The main thrust of this will be the new augment slot items they can make which I'm expecting will sell quickly and for a large amount :)

Hope this helps, if you want a full breakdown i'd recommend this site:

1.3 consolidated notes

I haven't played this game since January but I am interested in giving it another shot. Has the release date for 1.3 been announced yet as I will probably wait until then to resub.

Edit: I see from the last page that 1.3 drops today. Guess I'll start downloading the client.

Edit2: Are there any ocuk guilds, or any decent guilds which many of the ocuk guys are in? I'm not too sure what level I am, but I think mid 30s Sith Assassin. I may start over though as I expect a lot has changed since I played during launch month.

What server were you originally on?

The servers have now been merged so depending on which one you were on previously you'll be able to migrate to a very active server and start enjoying the game as it should have been at launch. The transfer is free so there's no real need to lose your level 30 unless of course you want to change server type - the current transfers are pve to pve or pvp to pvp if you follow me.

I'm excited about 1.3 today but in all honesty the game has been brilliant since the server merges, my only real gripe is the amount of guild recruitment spam in /1, seriously bioware give us a guild recruitment channel already!

What server? That is a good question! Unfortunately, I have a brain like a colander so I don't remember, but it was a PvP server.

Going to take me all morning to download the client, but if I read correctly, the servers won't be up until lunch time anyway.

There's only 1 PvP server so I'd strongly suggest moving your character. Good news is it took me under 5 minutes to move all 4 of my characters and I could log in and play on the new server straight away.

I'm not sure if the swtor website is down but you can do all of the tranfering of your characters through your account there.

as snave said - you will want to move to the ToFN server which is the activie EU PvP Server - you can do this via swtor.com - which is down while they perform maintenance and deliver 1.3.

Snave - what server are you on?

Here he is mr Serenté :D its Magnem. Think its about time to update the signature of yours to Nightmare Lands haha!

PS: Dont forget to maximise your gameplay, load up the client now, and pre-load the update now so you dont have to do it later :D
