*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

has this died a sad death?
i played on release and was thinking of going back to it,

It hasn't 'died' but has declined quite a lot, between 500k-1 million subs now, they've server merged europe down to 3-4 servers and announced that from November it will be switching to a model where you can play for free up to 50 with restrictions e.g. you can only do X number of warzones per week, or subscribe and get everything as you do now.

I'd say if you think you'll enjoy it and don't mind paying for a month give it a go and take it from there. If you just want to play through the class stories and can wait until later in the year then wait for Free to play.

I wouldn't say that... the storyline was basically the only thing that kept me playing as long as I did, it was everything else that was terrible.

Thing is, the rest of the game wouldn't have been so terrible if they hadn't wasted so many resources on a single player story. They just made a single player game and then tried to fit some bog standard MMO elements in around the sides. Rather than trying to build an MMO from the ground up.

Argh! Frustrated, maybe someone could help me!

I added the mobile security code to my account back when I was last playing (Feb/March time)

Sadly since that time I have updated my phone's software, which lost the SWTOR app, I have redownloaded it today and its asking for a 7 digit serial code for the app so I can link it to my account, but I don't have a code, no e-mails (Archived back years), nothing on origin and no way of getting in to the account!

Any ideas? :)

Edit: NVM, called customer services & got it removed! :D

Now I log in & find Niman is shutting down! Guess all my toons are off to TOFN!

Resubbed and played about 12 hours, realised how bad the combat was and how its nothing like GW2.

In the end i feel this game was very short sighted and poorly executed.

Maybe all the rumours people posted years ago about them having to pool people in to try and fix the game and bring it up to standard are true.

Even then i'm sad to see it die like this. But it taught me a very valuable lesson and thats never believe the hype and never let the hype take you to GAME and buy the collectors edition.

So not worth subbing until it goes F2P. Got to admit i gave up early when my initial sub ran out as found it.... frankly...boring.

has the game improved at all?

It has improved but they've largely added/fixed things that should have been in at launch (and people were telling them this in testing but anyway...) like ui customization, group finder, gear colour matching, some auction house improvements and engine performance. Couple of flashpoints an operation, daily quest area, ranked warzones and a new warzone have also been added along with a lot of legacy system fluff which was a waste of time and resources.

As I said to the guy asking earlier on this page, if you think you'll enjoy it for a month and don't mind paying then sub for a month and give it a go and see where it goes. But if you just fancy doing the class stories and playing now and then just resist for now, wait until November for F2P.

J heard about the whole legacy improving levelling via pvp if you chose that route etc.. Little did I realise it's upto 10% bonus and needs about legacy lvl 5 for even stage 1 (2%) but of a con and really not worth it :(

Might end up back in WoW at this rate!!

I went from Hydian Way recently which had 2 people on the Space Fleet at prime time, to Nightmare Lands with 60+

60 at prime time, you may have been on an instance of the fleet - there is 232 on my instance atm!

You don't need the perks for faster levelling, i've yet to get past Voss without dinging 50... my first toon dinged 50 on Belsavis!! It's so easy to level

Thats probbaly from lots of questing etc... though? I assume so anyways?

tbh, I do generally just tend to end up PVP'ing a lot in Warzones, and right now at 12-16k a loss and 24k a win, its taking a long time to even hit 43!

But welcome any advice, been out of the loop a while!!
