*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

I was thinking of checking this out once they got rid of the subscription, but listening to the way they've removed basic features to monetize them, I don't think I'll bother. I'd happily pay a one-off fee to buy a working game, but this sounds like Runescape or something.

not sure whats worse the F2P model or the game itself hmmm , the combat is so sluggish & non responsive sound / combat animations all seem out of sync lol , im sure theres still an ability delay .

Wow, that's the greediest f2p implementation I've ever seen. At least I can uninstall it now and free up some space.

Agree, though with EA i would expect nothing less.

I was a sub for around 8-9 months and was going to give FTP a go but the whole FTP model has put me off.

Unless you sub to the game, you will have to spend silly money for so many unlocks from what ive seen in the cartel market, and some unlocks are ridiculous imo

Ive played and still play a lot of MMORPG's some FTP, and this FTP model is by far the worst ive ever seen, i just dont see what Bioware will gain in the long term with this model.

After ppl complete the quests 1-50, i think Bioware will be in the same position with low population on the servers after this FTP model, my opinion anyway.

So since WoW has calmed down to only needing to do 4 raids a week now and not endless dailys every waking hour of the day I've decided to reactivate SW:TOR.

I have a freshly dinged Level 50 Sith Marauder - any chance somebody can give me an idea of how you would go about gearing for end game content / any other tips and suggestions?

I'm currently on a realm all by my lonesome, but perhaps when transfers are back up I may look at hooking up with the OCUK team.

First off, get the recruit gear from the fleet. Its free and better than the stuff you're using at the moment even though its a pvp set.

Hard mode flashpoints will get you the starter columi gear and doing the daily quests (belsavis, black hole, ilum and section x) will get you daily commendations which you can use to buy rakata earpieces and implants and dread guard relics. You can also buy the rakata implants on the gtn for 2-300k.

You can also get black hole commendations from a weekly quest in both the black hole and section x and also from using the group finder to do a hardmode flashpoint daily. Blackhole gear is better than columi and rakata but will take a while to get.

Once you have rakata you can do the operations which also drop black hole comms.

Or you can pvp and get the battlemaster and then after a long time the war hero gear.

So decided to give this another go now it is F2P, thought I would start a new character and see how it went.

I was going to post about how annoying most of the restrictions are but this guy does it better: http://gamersbench.com/news/star-wars-the-old-republic-free-to-play-an-opinion/
My only disagreement with him is that I don't like the xp reduction, by all means give subscribers and xp booster packs an increase, but why reduce the xp for F2Pers, you are just turning the game into a grind fest to make up for the loss of quest xp, stupid!

stupid game, i log in for it to say ive got to verify my email to continue playing my character, that silly lvl 17 bug, so i log into the website and it gives me a security question that i wouldn't of answered in the first place, i finally after a few hours get a different question that i clearly wouldn't of answered either. so i ring up just to get disconnected twice after hitting a million buttons to speak to someone, so annoyed right now. its either ring up or wait 10 years for a email response?

Two points on this one...

1 - Used the Cartel Market last night and have to say, didn't find anything on there that excited me at present. That may be due to the lvl and class I am playing atm (27 Sniper). Hopefully things will improve in there after a while

2 - What would be the quickest (and legit) way to ding my toon above up to lvl 50? I also have a lvl 43 Guardian and got rather frustrated with the amount of time it took to get up levels on there, which was why i switched to the Aniper. Having more fun with that toon, so want to take it as far as i can.

Cheers
