Also get Nvidia Inspector and use it for AA and setting the Level Of Detail.

The ingame AA isn't that efficient and causes a bigger performance hit than through Inspector. Also you can get better level of detail with inspector as well.

Some have even reported some performance increases with the LOD set to -3 for better reflections and detail. :)

There's also a little option right at the bottom to use FXAA if you card supports it and that form of AA causes even a lower performance hit.

Just got given a Dell 2001FP and Nvidia 260GTX for free so happy with those for now.

TOR and Windows 7 are all that is on the SSD.

I think I was budgetting around the £250-£300 mark for CPU/Mobo/RAM but obviously 2nd hand might be cheaper. Running 8Gb of RAM now and would not go lower but might move up to 16 if cheap enough.

Have turned off shadows and will try the XP SP3 trick tonight :)

Thanks

You should be able to get a nice spec for that. I'm running an i5/2500k 4GB RAM with a 260 GTX with an M4 SDD with Windows 7. The game runs smooth as silk with everything on high (except shadows) at 1600 x 1200.

This, bloody engine is useless or their use of it is awful

The used an unfinished license, despite against developers saying the engine wasn't done. Bioware decided that they could finishe the engine themselves.

The current engine available is vastly different and much much better than the custom job Bioware have and are using.

I've started to find the game is getting a bit too repetitive :( I struggle to level and alt, because I feel like I only just finished the same planet quests.

Just my opinion.

I've resubbed and abandoned my Level 28 Jedi Consular Sage for now. Levelled an Imperial Agent to Level 10 last night and I'm gonna give Operative a try. Ain't much of a fan of the Cover mechanic but the storyline is awesome though.

I tend to find I dont use cover very much at all anyway with my op. At level 19 I only have 2 abilities that use it and I find I do more damage in melee than from range (Snipe vs Shiv) and the extra dps from explosive probe is negated by not being able to move.

That said it all may change in later levels as more abilities come through.

Hey Wab, what's going on? I've yet to run into you or the Immortals on Belsavis or Illum.

Are you all afraid of the Lone Dark Immortal? :p ;)

I've only seen a few of you in normal pvp warzone and well...they failed to live up to the name Immortals.

I'm easy to spot, no PvP gear on haha

I've ended up turning traitor and leveling a vanguard with a mate on the Republic side. Pretty much all but 3 of the 25ish of our group have quit the game and doing the same content over and over on the Imp side is getting boring.

Trying my hardest to eek out what enjoyment i can out of the game until they bring out the estimated March patch adding new Warzones, PvP changes, guild functionality etc.

“It’s not productized yet,” we told Gordon. “There are whole sections of code that is only roughed in and not optimized for performance or security. And there are very few comments and very little documentation.”

He didn’t care. “We are going to have tons of engineers. We can finish it ourselves. We’re going to want to modify your source code for our special project anyway

Ah, much becomes clear.

On the republic side there's easily over 40-50. The Immortals

There's over 200 members last I checked.

Sadly the Empire side, Dark Immortals is extremely small. Baeyne and myself are the main active members.
Wab said they'll be working on growing the Empire side though.
