Official TF2 Update Thread

On a personal note I feel the demo-man is slightly overpowered, notably on the control-point maps where tunnels are often just spammed full of grenades :(

Yeah I've been thinking the same thing. If you've got a couple of decent demos on defence there's just no way through for the attackers - you can even blast Ubers away.

Although I do not play as much TF2 as I used to, I have still played quite a bit since hats were made available. However I still have not had got any hats. :( I swear I have got about 10 FANs amongst other stuff I already have loads of times!

Fingers crossed I will start getting some more now then!

Are there any good servers that do a full map rotate?
Im starting to get a bit bored of playing the same 3/4 maps all the time.
I'm wanting to play a certain map again but cant for the life of me remember te namesof them.

Both CP maps iirc, one had a railway thru the middle and water either side.

The other had a tower like hill at the left for red as you spawn

Still lookin for hats and not found any :(

HAve got the baseball for scout and having great fun with it ^^

I know at least two people in my steam contacts that wont be happy about their hats being "knicked" :)

I had a quick login earlier to see if I had a new hat, and I indeed have a spiffy new halo I can use on all the classes. Not had a chance to see how it looks in the game, but I think it's a great touch. Valve are a good bunch.

How do you get the Bow in TF2? I've not got one and I was asking in a server where people had them and they did not know what a Bow was O_o

The map with the railway in the middle is cp_well. A few of the GTFO servers have it in rotation. Good servers :)

It's called The Hunstman, they were probably just being **** about it. Sniper Milestone two, or cross your fingers and get it randomly. So get cracking with your sniper achievements!

Looks kinda weird seeing everyone, well nearly everyone running around with the halo.

As you mentioned servers Divine, does anyone know any popular public servers which have relatively higher skilled players on? I know I know, public servers are not the best for higher skilled games, but I would not mind increasing my favourite list a bit. I can never be bothered with pickups and clan games are not something you can just jump straight in to on your own whenever you want.

I'm far from the best player out there, but it is frustrating when I'm on a team with poor medics or a team that is just not aggressive enough to get anywhere.

Ideally 24 player servers (or thereabouts), good stock maps (i.e. not hydro, 2fort etc :p). Customs are ok as long as they are decent and balanced. None of this fast respawn rubbish, no custom sounds and most defiantly no stupid jump servers, dodgeball servers etc! Crits I can deal with but ideally without. So basically as close to stock as possible with a few exceptions.

The best popular server I have come across is Hampshire Heavies #1. THG #1 is ok as well. Doomsters can be ok too, but it is empty quite a lot. None of them are consistently good though. There must be a perfect public server out there for me somewhere! :D

Mailman - check out the Cleveridiot server at 82.138.243.151:27019, http://cleveridiot.com/

It is only ever really active in the evenings after 7 and on weekends (most of us have to work!) but the community is fantastic and it easily fits all the criteria you listed. Level of play is higher then on most other public servers and people actually use their mics and play as a team :)

Well this latest idea by valve is bit of a failure. It has now push the 15 to 20 thousands players using the idle program to join real servers and idle there where they take up player spots, and encourages achievment_idle servers. Punishing players does not fix the broken item system, if valve had common sense in the first place and made a decent item system there would have been no need to create an idle program in the first place.

Cool. Will give it a go at some point even if is 32 players. ;) I work odd hours though which is why I play on the THG and the H|H servers a lot as they are almost full 24/7.

I never really played in SAS clan matches much but I'm even less involved now such to the point most of the time I play now it is just me on a public server without Vent or whatever.

I see you have a team in the same division as our Red Squad on ED so skill wise I guess [Ci] are alright I suppose :p (I used to play a bit in the early days of Blue Squad).

Doesn't the console kick players for being idle? I know I've been for what I thought would be a swift log and came back to be kicked. achievement and idle servers wont affect people playing either, right? I might be missing something.

I like the milestone system, it encourages me to play classes I wouldn't have taken the time to get into, like the sniper, which I've only logged about 3 hours on and have all the milestones, and had a good laugh doing it. The only problem here was the "random" nature of the hats and people wanting them now! now! now!

EDIT: My only problem with the item system at the moment is getting items that you already have and clearing out the backpack. I don't think it would be too hard to sort that.

One thing that i found annoying is that the TF2 post mentions adding in crafting, so you can combine duplicate items to get something new. If only they said this from the start i wouldnt have been deleting my duplicate items, I would have saved them for when crafting was implemented.
