*** Official Ubiquiti Discussion Thread ***

I haven’t checked for a while and I was a bit shocked to see that my U6-Mesh and U6-IW units are showing 6.2.39 while my U6-Pro, U6-LR, U6-Enterprise are showing 6.2.44 and the U6-Enterprise IWs are showing Beta 6.2.47. I’m on the stable release channel only except for EA kit that obviously needs Beta firmware. I manually update my firmware, minimum of 7 days after it has gone out to stable release to let the early adopters tell me if it’s good or not.

And no, no issues for me on 6.2.39 but if it’s not there in 6.2.37 then I strongly suspect it’s a bug.

Glenn asked for logs, so provided var/logs/messages to him. Log file as about 4-5 times bigger than any of the other APs. Need to get a greylog server setup for syslog, wish hadn't got rid of my QNAP for TrueNas TBH. TrueNas consumes a chunk of power at idle. Might look at replacing it with a Synology box and then use the syslog server on that.

Trying the AP on a different switch tonight

I installed TrueNAS onto my QNAP and discovered the same. I also found some of the TrueNAS UI quite clunky, especially permissions so I've gone back to QuTS.

I got rid of my QNAP for a PowerEdge T340 :(

Will look at the DiskStation® DS923+ series from Synology. *** might not go for this model due to NVE Storage pools locked to synology drives and lack of GPU for Plex. ***

Which QNAP are you running?

I've using NFS, SMB and iSCSI too. NFS for hypervisor, iSCSI for Plex

U6-Pro, picked it up off Amazon for sub £160 at the weekend. Return looming...

No issues with the U6-Lite, FlexHD or the 3rd AP delivered last week.
Are you not able to move the U6-Pro to 6.2.44? It seems odd mine upgraded to that but yours is stuck on 6.2.39.

Any idea when we are likely to see 25/40/50/100 Gb switches? I know there are a few with some 25 Gb ports and I saw they had a leaf switch for a short time, but not seen anything since.

Have you tried to update the AP manually?

Yes updated to 6.2.44 manually, but then the high RX Frames problem exists and the unit goes offline following a RF scan. The RF scan takes about 20 minutes or so if it completes / stays online.

Did you manage to get the logs over to Glenn? It does sound like a possible HW issue though.

I submitted logs, but they didn't contain the info, so he's asked me to do them again via a different process. So I'll be doing that this evening, I originally supplied /var/log/messages from the unit after SCP them off. Logs on the problem unit re messages are about 5 x bigger than the other units that don't have a problem.

I'm going to be ordering a Synology later I think and getting syslog running again. My TrueNas and hypervisor host are off at the moment due to the 100W consumption! I'm looking at QNAP too again, but the constant security issues led me to ditch QNAP originally. Wish I'd kept my TS-453A unit tbh

Just don't use any of the internet connected features and you're fine with them, much better value for money hardware wise with QNAP. I'm using a TS-673A with a 2 port 10 Gb NIC and NVMe PCIe card.

Didn't originally, all locked off / not used. DSM application stack looks better, QNAP hardware better. All to get a syslog and consolidate. I've got a couple of spare Pi devices unused, so may spin up greylog.

I don't know what the Synology syslog is like, but the QNAP one is pretty crap. It just writes to a plain text file and rotates it, the output is not particularly searchable. I ended up using prom tail/Loki but then realised I can just use vRealize Log Insight for it all.

I went a bit overkill when I was playing with the syslog stuff on my QNAP and Unifi stuff and had it feeding into a QRadar instance

Is this a bad time to point out that you could do this on Untangle with no other hardware required? Just sayin’.
