Oh perfect timing, was about to purchase the unifi express and u7 pro but the new unifi express 7 might do the trick !!

Time to read up about it
 
It's a shame that Unifi is so heavily into the whole influencer thing, and I am aware it's just how things are in 2025, but to hear someone waxing lyrical about a 2x2 Wi-Fi 7 box with effectively 2x 2.5Gb ports (because there's no point in a single 10Gb interface and a single 2.5Gb one, you can't actually use the 10Gb one) that costs £190 as being "inexpensive" is a bit much. The price is slightly above other dual 2.5Gb Wi-Fi 7 mesh node products, probably has very similar hardware underneath, and justifies the higher price by the enhanced functionality that the Unifi controller offers. It's nearly double the price of the Unifi Express and partly that's an admission that the hardware in that box was underspecced for the claims they were making about its abilities.

If you're going to review a product and comment on pricing I think knowing a little bit about the market should be a clearable bar.

The UCG Fibre is much more interesting.

According to the cross talk solutions video, you can fully configure the WAN and LAN ports so you can use one of the 4 2.5G ports for WAN leaving you 3 10G ports to use on your LAN. One of the 2.5G ports is also POE.

This caught my attention as I was on the cusp of buying a gateway max.
 
I have a Gateway Max, £100 extra for the Gateway Fiber is probably worth it if the port count matches what you need.
 
So what's the difference between the DM Pro Max and this new Gateway. Is it mostly the form factor and Protect drive options?
 
UCG Fiber has a better CPU than the UDM Pro Max, more 2.5Gb ports, less RAM and less storage. Would expect a CPU bump to come to the rackmount boxes in response, and maybe for their slowest interfaces to be 2.5Gb.

Yes, it just seems odd for the rack mount devices to not be the top performer then it trickles down.
 
Yeah I would expect to see some updates to the rack mount lineup as they are starting to look a bit dated (and expensive) in comparison.
 
I'd hang fire until these things get into the hands of real people other than designated hype teams for Ubiquiti, I seem to remember the Unifi Express launched and all the usual people on YouTube said how great it was, and then when they started getting used they were almost unusably slow with a UI that ran like treacle. I wouldn't be surprised if the way the ports are hooked up electrically mean there are compromises that need to be taken into account, like maybe the entire 2.5Gb section of the UCG Fiber is only linked to the CPU at 2.5Gb or similar trade-offs.
