I'm in the same boat. Don't want to watch anything that may accidentally spoil my experience of the final product.
 
Im up for co-op though perhaps after Ive had an attempt at the SP...

Might persuade Streeteh to play co-op with me so he can make sure I finsih this game this year :p

Question. Do I need to know the story from the first game or can I just jump into the second game? I guess no one can answer that until we see if the 2nd one gives us a flashback of the story in the first game or not.

Saying that, I should probably play the first one anyways.

It has characters and references to the original game in the trailer, so there's that.

Tbh it shouldn't even be something worth debating, just play the original game, it's one of the best the PS3 has to offer.

I guess you could ask if you need to watch Raiders of the Lost ark before the Temple of Doom, it wont harm the storyline but you may miss some back story and some of the jokes.
 
Just this minute finished uncharted (1). It's a really good game. It took me 10hours over about 3 weeks to do. Anyone who has a PS3 but hasn't played this then you need to get it (especially for the price). :)
