I'm not about to go through and verify every result which tbh is impossible given the screenshots. We are a community here, there are no prizes, it is meant as an information thread to share with others who want to know which card is better (in this benchmark which is normally a reflection of how the card performs in games too).

Of course, being Overclockers UK we are going to overclock our cards to get the best result possible but if people feel the need to tweak the settings at a driver level to achieve a higher score then that is lame and certainly not in the spirit of this community nor this thread - I for one am embarrassed for those that feel the need to do this.

Of course people are going to want to maximise their scores/performance as in anything.
No one is running these things at these clocks in normal use..not many anyway.(for one thing my cpu in skyrim would pump out a lot of heat , unless I wanted to play for 15 min sessions).
For rough comparison purposes you can still rely on the average mx figures. If you want to stick your pc inside a cold storage room or something thats up to you.
For single gpu gx cards on the test parameters

Even with the max clocked figures.
Ranking goes something like this
1.Any combination of sli or xfire cards above 2 nvid 560's or 2 ati/amd 5870's approx
2..7970 single card.
3..sli 460 or dual xfire 5850 approx(not sure about 7950 havent checked enough reviews.)
4..580 gtx

and so on down for single gpu/single cards.
590 and 6990 owners just have to see roughly where they fit in.

If people wanna do paintshop or something for pretend nyah nyah rights, thats different .. and theyre bound to go crazy on altering figures.
Theres such a database here now people would probably realise whats bs and what isnt.

Im not running any "well the other guys didnt say it was naughty" and I got a tax loophole too stuff.
If folks are that petty , I dunno I mean I got my latest pushin my setup with the nvid beta drivers(which Im still using) but hey
I could cough, stamp my feet and sing its a long way to tipperary to maximise my score.

Hey maybe I could save a screenshot with 4xAA turned off.. then copy in an exact same resolution saved ss with 4xAA turned on and just cut n paste that bit.. ooh thatd be so cool..
Pause to vomit.
Im just sayin this cos.. I didnt think my 460 sli setup would hit 70 fps average. It isnt "real " in the sense I wouldnt run the cards that hi normally, but it was real in using standard win settings,an available nvidia driver and an available card clocking utility.
Massaging figures is just so annoying ,specially for new 7970 owners.

Anyway keep up the good work and hope there isnt too much bs.

Can't believe I was nearly deceived by the high 7970 score as I was assuming everyone was running OcUK settings as set in initial post, his screenshot was obvious - as pointed out earlier - so he wasn't trying to hoodwink us. Pointing out the tessellation was reduced/off would have been useful though :)

Simply leave any display control panel settings to application defaults bar clocks/fan speeds. There is no need to tweak any other settings, with benchmarking (moreso with this thread), it is obviously judged as unfair to do so. If anyone does/has submitted scores then these 'other' adjustments should be noted to avoid any confusion as excluded (such as runs with resolutions that differ and excluded from the table) - anyone with doubts about a submission should raise it w3bbo. I can say without hesitation that all my submissions are legit and follow the benchmark guidelines here and I hope the majority are too.

I agree!! I think it defeats the entire purpose of this thread

You must have a guilty conscience if you choose not to accept that ;)

Nope - CCC at default except for the texture filtering quality set to performance.

I don't even know how to turn tessellation off :-)

What about people turning off windows services, running on clean installs etc? What about those bench runs that immediately blue screen on exit or those runs that can only be done once due to the heat? That's hardly representative is it?

Thing is I doubt there are all that many of those runs in this thread as well and imo that is not as bad as not properly running the benchmark.

had to clock my cpu back to stock cos it was getting hot :), thats why its different in my sig

You need to run it again with 4xAA

+1

Now I'm wondering if some of those scores that totally smashed gibbos are genuine.
